    Transmission problems....again

I also have an 88GT with a T-5. I'm not sure what all was replaced on your tranny/clutch? I redid my clutch last spring. I don't like going back in to redo things so I did a complete over haul. Which included - resurface flywheel, new pilot bearing, new throw-out bearing, new pressure plate...

Need tips to clean lifter valey

How about duct tape to seal off the intake ports? Maybe stuff some paper towel or clean rags down those ports while you are cleaning.

    Rockers damaging pressed in studs

Stock heads I would be careful with because of the pressed in studs. If you are using a non stock cams. Most performance applications call for a beefier head with screw in studs and guide plates etc. Usually it is a package deal if you beef up the cam then do the heads too.

    Front sway bar bracket?

It shouldn't be that hard to obtain? Have you tried any of the mustang specialty websites like www.canadianmustang.com or www.yearone.com? First you will have to measure it because there are several different sizes/diameters. :canada:

Got some pics of the 65!

Looks Very Good Looks like you have done alot of quality work to your car! Get out and enjoy it for the summer. Then take care of the details. I have a 65 too. I have a build date of December 64. My dash/instrument panel is different though. I particularly like the side view shot. What...

    70 mustang clutch chutter/chatter

I would start by making sure your freeplay is adjusted to the right distance and then make sure your bellhousing is snug to your engine and that your tranny is snug to your bellhousing. I had this problem with my car when I first got it. Then I had someone push on the clutch pedal while I...

    Rust Problems in the Trunk

That seems like a fair approach. I remember getting a body man gave me a quote as a side job of $300.00(quite awhile ago) labor only. I spent about $200.00 on the parts(recent parts price). BTW mine looked and was alot worse than yours some body had patched mine over which made it even worse...

    Rust Problems in the Trunk

This is one of the more common places for severe rusting on Mustangs. I am in the process of doing mine right now. Looks like your frame rails are well on the way out too. I just did the LH side this past weekend and plan to do the other side here soon. I am doing the partial frame rails and...

    Bumper Repair

Before you paint your bumper, you will want to use an adhesion promoter. I know it is to be used for plastics like poly urethane etc. The best way to describe it would be a primer for plastic. The stuff I used went on clear, if you don't use it your paint will most likely peel or wear off...

    Leaf Spring Help

Just need a little help sorting things out here. I am in the process of finishing off my V-6 to V-8 conversion. This is for a 1965 Coupe. Working on the differential and leaf springs right now. Swapping in a 8 in from a 65 Comet which I won't have any problems with, it is basically just a...

That's Cool I learned something today I thought they were only available with the black accents. I did some diggin myself and it looks like this option wasn't available in 1969.

    WHITE stripes on a Mach 1 ???

Haven't seen one of these before. Looks like it is somebodies idea of a clone? There is certain criteria for it to meet to be a true Mach I. Firstly the hood should be flat black. The list goes on.

    Differences between 65 & 68 289 engine?

Bellhousing Bolt Pattern! The one major difference I can think of would be that the early 1965 engines have a 5 bolt bellhousing pattern. Then after about mid 65 they changed to the more common 6 bolt Bellhousing pattern. Of course this has nothing to do with performance. But I would...

    clutch /preasure plate torque?

As DHearne pointed out more details would be helpful. If you are refering to the transmission to clutch/bellhousing bolts 37-42 ftlbs is recommended don't overdue it or else you well blow out the threads in the housing. Then you will be rethreading it with helicoil or replacing it. Good luck...

    parking brake poblem

Finding Build Date To find out your build date you would have to look at the warranty or id plate. It is usually attached to the drivers door. By where it latches to the frame. Look at the date section mine has a '21M'. First number represents the day of the month the second letter is code...

    Happiest Man on the Block

Congratulations on your new car, I know you will have lots of fun with it. Somethings to check are your lower rad hose, the big one from engine to rad. If it is old and weak they can sometimes collapse when hot and under pressure thus obstructing flow in the system. Do you have a fan shroud...

Wiring weirdness - Your thoughts please

I have a 65 with a build date of december 17 1964 that has some of the earlier 64.5 parts like an oiler spout on my distributor etc. I remember something like this when I had to change my turn signal switch. I had to make a map of the wire colors in the connector and remove them one by one to...

Wiring weirdness - Your thoughts please

Depending on when your car was built, they sometimes use up parts for the previous years models if they work. That is why it is always best to get the Ford part number off the original part. Then try to make sure the new part is same as the old one. Sorry this had to happen to you, hopefully...

    Clutch Pedal Play??

:nice: No worries, I initially had it up on jackstands before I put it on the road, this is where I ensured the clutch was engaging/disengaging completely. I made minor adjustments from here. Sorry about the attitude. I love the message boards too!
