    IIRC, D=70, 1=year.... so the engine would have been built in '71. if it was built in the 70s its neither an HO nor a roller block.

    i know what you mean, there is a shop like that in my town. i would try to find someone else that has also had an engine bored from that shop and see if they had the same problem.

    are you asking if that is normal?? i have never had a block bored, but i've seen blocks that have been and i dont remember any lines, but if the shop said its normal then it will probaly be ok. is it a well-known shop in you area or are they new?

    i got bbk's and the only problem i had installing them was have to lift the engine on the pass. side. i've had them on 2 different cars and i didn't have any clearance issues with steering shaft, starter or any thing else.
