Blown 2 valves with 03-04 cobra shortblocks?

According to the feedback I'm getting from other fourms, stock 2v heads on the 03-04 cobra shortblock gives a comp ratio of about 9.5-10. So with aftermarket/ported heads, I should be OK. I'm just looking for others who have actually gone through this already, so I can learn from their experience.

That's why I was asking about after market heads/cams.

Blown 2 valves with 03-04 cobra shortblocks?

I might be able to get a decent deal on a cobra shortblock for my 99 GT. My near term goal is to make 550+ with my intercooled vortech set-up. I am going to stay 2v, to avoid complications and excessive cost. I heard that the dished pistons in the Cobra shortblock will raise my compression...

T-45 4th gear lockout & popping out of gear

    Yes, 3rd gear feels perfect.

    Beef up the rear...need advice.

I had my stock 28 spline axles/trackloc for over 200 passes with 28" slicks and 5000-6000 rpm launches, and it held up. For peace of mind, I just switched over to a 31 spline carrier from Randy S ($169) and Moser axles from Jegs ($250).

T-45 4th gear lockout & popping out of gear

If I get a new tranny, I'm thinking of a Promotion T-45 over a TKO 600. Supposedly, they have beefed up internals and can be shifted passed 7000 rpm. I heard the TKO 600 doesn't want to shift past 6000 rpms -which is a big problem for us centrifugal blower guys since thats where we make all our...

T-45 4th gear lockout & popping out of gear

Yesterday at the dragstrip, I was getting locked out of 4th gear. On the drive home I found that I couldnt stay in 4th gear, it pops out even under light load. The other gears are fine, including reverse. The T-45 was recently rebuilt (with stock components), and it only has 20 passes and...

Here's a pretty nice underhood filter for you centri blower guys

I have a blow-thru set-up, and my maf is pretty far away from the filter (its just past the intercooler), so I'm not really worried about that. Also, there's no trace of any oil residue in any of the induction piping, and I've been using K&N filters on this car since 1999. But generally, I...

Here's a pretty nice underhood filter for you centri blower guys

Found a pretty nice underhood filter for my S-Trim, that I thought I’d share with you guys. Since around 2001, I’ve been using a powerpipe with a cone filter in the fenderwell. The outlet pipe from my FMIC passes through the same fenderwell, so things get pretty cramped. Another problem is...

the reliability of a blown stang

That's the nice thing about a centrifugal blower. You can drive it normally without getting into boost, and not stress anything (like driving the car stock). But the power is a downshift away whenever you need it.

    Fuel Tank 01GT

I've seen a shop remove the fuel filter and apply compressed air into the filler neck to push out the gasoline. This was on a Ford focus, not a Mustang. Good luck.

    Goodyear Gaterback?

You can buy the Gates belt at NAPA. They work fine with the blower.

    This Video....

I see you guys found my video. Yes, its a V1 S-Trim. If you turn up the volume, you can hear the whine in the very beginning before I launch. I have a BIG mondo bypass valve welded to the discharge pipe before the FMIC. Its a little loud b/c I have a blow thru set-up, and it dumps to...

    Getting hard to shift...

It could be the synchros, especially if you've done a lot of high-rpm shifting. Before doing anything drastic, you can try adjusting the clutch cable, and you can try different fluids. Might as well try the simple things first.

Please help, I cant get my belt back on!

I leave the water pump pulley for last. Its rounded off at the edges, which makes it easier to slip the belt over.

Vortech Supercharged guys here.... Having Oil problems still...

Here's a good thread that shows various set-ups: http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=732890 I have my driver's side valve cover vent connected to the power pipe, with no catch can. That line is dry. The passenger side vent goes to a catch can then to the intake manifold...

Vortech Supercharged guys here.... Having Oil problems still...

It's not a "normal" problem. My blower inlet is very clean, but I don't have it sucking on the passenger side valve cover either. In your case its either blowby oil from the the valve cover or its from the blower seals. I would determine the cause and fix the problem, unless you like oily messes.

Vortech Supercharged guys here.... Having Oil problems still...

Oil will get past the oil separator, you'd be surprised. If you don't believe me, try putting a fuel filter after the oil separator, and see how much oil it collects. You can get cheap "see-through" Purolator fuel filters at Pep Boys for a few bucks. But it is possible that vorech fuucked...

    How To for Oil Seperator

Benny, Some copper mesh inside would increase the surface area and help collect more oil. I use Chore Boy scouring pads from the supermarket, and it makes a difference.
