Hey whats up! More 2.3 power needed

First thing is run codes! That'll give you an idea what to look for. Are you running all Motorcraft parts? Plugs, rotor, cap, wires, TFI module? For some reason these motors respond favorably to Motorcraft parts. Factory plug gap is .034. If running 15-22 lbs boost, plugs should be gapped...

Hey whats up! More 2.3 power needed

Good plan! IIRC, you have a lot of miles on the bottom end. Since you had your head shaved previously, I'd have the machine shop check for straightness first. If it's good, don't shave it again cuz that'll only raise compression which you don't want in a turbo application.

Hey whats up! More 2.3 power needed

You beat me to it! I was just about to tell you that! I had the same problem when I dropped the motor into my roadster. A guy over on TurboFord told me my VAM was backwards. Happens to the best of us!

Paint and Body How to paint tail light assembly textured plastic

Just scuff it up with a 3M Scotch-Brite general purpose scuff pad #07447. It's not really exposed to the elements, it'll be fine. Also, SEM Trim Black is quality paint.

Hey whats up! More 2.3 power needed

An intercooler would fail BAR. You'd need to bypass it by running a pipe from the turbo directly to your throttle body. Pretty simple. Also, as far as BAR is concerned you're simply replacing your naturally aspirated 1987 Mustang 2.3 with a turbocharged 1987-89 Merkur 2.3. They're all...

Hey whats up! More 2.3 power needed

A word of advice from an old fart whose been there and done that. Don't do that! By law, if your car will have Montana plates you have 20 days to reregister it in CA and obtain new plates. American Canyon isn't a very big town. When the local cops see a 20 year old driving a modified Fox...

Hey whats up! More 2.3 power needed

Don't worry so much. It looks like you've found the EGR Vent solenoid wiring. In the first pic, the connector on the left looks like a 2 prong connector with RED and DK/GRN wires. Clean off the wires to double check the colors, then go to your 60 pin ECU connector and make sure the same color...

Hey whats up! More 2.3 power needed

I have no pics but looking at some wiring diagrams I have, The EGR Position sensor is a 4 prong connector with one prong blanked out. It looks like that may be the one in your pic. Check the wire colors. If it has BK/WHT, ORG/WHT and BRN/LT GRN wires, you've found it! The EGR Vent solenoid...

Hey whats up! More 2.3 power needed

Besides the EGR Valve connector, you have 2 other EGR system connectors on your Mustang harness. 1) EGR Position sensor 2) EGR Vent solenoid I assume the connectors are all disconnected from the components. Just snip the wires behind the Position sensor and Vent solenoid connectors. You can...

Hey whats up! More 2.3 power needed

No video but from the internet write-up I used on mine before Stinger even started Stinger Performance.......... 1) Locate the EGR position sensor plug (3wires - ORG/WHT, BLK /WHT and BRN/LT GRN) that's on your Mustang harness. 2) Cut the ORG/WHT wire (pin 26) from the EGR position plug and...

Hey whats up! More 2.3 power needed

Thanks for the invite but the Mustang is long gone........ Bozo the clown rearended me at 40mph, pushed me into an SUV and sent me to the hospital. I've since taken the motor/trans from the Mustang and dropped it into my '27 roadster. Been enjoying it for a few years now!

Hey whats up! More 2.3 power needed

Basically, $600 w/tax and shipping. IMHO, as good as that kit is, I'd pass. An I/C helps but it really doesn't make that much difference in a street driven car. You say you have the factory I/C from the TurboCoupe.......just make that a front mount I/C. Fab up some brackets, incorporate some...

Hey whats up! More 2.3 power needed

I see a flat boss on the front of your turbo, right below the outlet. Drill and tap for a fitting and run lines A & B off of that.

OK, PCV system first. I referenced this off of mine and my intake is rotated 90* so it may look a little different. The correct PCV valve is Motorcraft EV-127...... https://www.ebay.com/itm/353588647958?mkcid=1&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&siteid=0&campid=5335821607&customid=&toolid=10001&mkevt=1...

    Air conditioning not working

No voltage at the compressor harness means the electromagnet inside the compressor isn't receiving power meaning the clutch won't engage. The compressor is probably good. Start tracing back from the connector until you reach power. Somewhere between the connector and the last place of power...

Specific Cam Questions that Google can't seem to answer...

You've already stated you don't wanna hear this but, no matter what you do or how much you spend, a N/A 2.3 will never be a match in power or reliability to a properly assembled 2.3 turbocharged 4 cyl. 200hp from the factory and junkyard mods will get you to 300hp easily! There...I said it!

Fox Anyone need connectors off the engine control wiring harness?

Yeah, I checked but it's gone. I stripped all the superfluous stuff from the harness when I adapted it to my '54.
