    2010 V6 VS 2012 V6 (My impressions)

    I just went from an '00 GT 5-speed to a '12 v6 6-speed and as soon as I remembered to add 1K RPM to the v6 before making a "seat of the pants" pull comparison, this new V6 ROCKS! Just like my old v8 didn't really feel like it was pulling much until 4K RPM, this V6 doesn't feel like it is...

    ?? -> "Nitto NT555 street" & "Sumitomo HTR-ZIII" @ same $

    Just thought I'd mention that the mustang now has new Nitto 555 street tires on all for corners. 275s in front and 315s in the rear. I decided to replace the rears at the same time, since I got them "close enough" to worn-out by just waiting a few months. I am very pleased. :nice: I...

    MIL CEL Troubleshooting Help - please :)

    So, it is SMOG time and my car had a CEL. My code reader told me the MIL was on. I just completed some DIY MIL Eliminators for $5.40, and the light is now off, and I'm sure I'll pass SMOG at the end of the week. Never-the-less... ...I am hoping someone is familiar with the symptoms and has an...

    New to site, looking for advice

    Congrats on deciding on the build. When you finish it, I agree this Focus really will be something different. :nice: I believe this is why you came to this forum for advice: If at all possible, you should seriously reconsider your transmission choice. What I recall as the general...

    Car stalls at idle with A/C on

    The only time I have stalled while running the air was when my IAC valve was going out. I also had (or very soon had) a surging idle. However, I've had the car since '03 but haven't used the AC since summer of '06. Haven't removed it, but haven't used it either. lol

    Failed Inspection WTF?

    Wow man, I thought California was bad. Sorry to hear. :bs:

    Should I be satisfied with my times?

    Slipping the clutch is a bit easier to explain how to do correctly than I have seen so far in this thread. Hard to do, easy to explain. Each car should be launched at a high enough RPM to put the engine in its power band immediately after the launch. We are lucky, we are V8s w/ good torque...

    Suggestions on Turbo Kits

    You don't mention it, and you may already know... You should not be able to pass SMOG and successfully register your car in California w/ any turbo kit that I know of. Unless it is a CARB (California Air Resource Board) certified modification, with an engine compartment mounted certificate...

    '00 GT Head gasket ?s

    Well, the "blown head gasket" is just what it looked like to me 10min after it happened. The car is stock, 10yrs old, with 85k on the odo. Heads have never been touched, and the coolant level was not low. What I saw under the hood, 10min after it happened (9min 30sec after turning off the...

    '00 GT Head gasket ?s

    So, blew a head gasket on my 2000 GT... How much does a shop usually charge for that? What do I need (in parts) to do it myself? Anything besdes the new gasket? If I'm doing the head gasket, is there anything else to do at the same time I have it apart with an 85K mileage engine...

    ?? -> "Nitto NT555 street" & "Sumitomo HTR-ZIII" @ same $

    I need a new pair of 275/17R40 tires up front. I found the Nitto NT555 street tires (Ultra High perf summer) and the Sumitomo HTR ZIII (Max perf summer) tires within $2 a pair of each other. I've just worn out my set of front HTR ZIII tires (from May of '08), and I've loved them. I had a set...

    Runs rough under ~2K RPM... ?

    Sorry, I haven't logged in for a while, and I had PMs on this thread. I found this issue was caused by faulty cyl1 and cyl2 COP (coil on plug) boots. I got a couple replacements at Kragen (<$5 ea) and put new plugs in the same time. Haven't had problems, since. The plugs in cyl1 and 2 were...

    9-00 Mustang GT clutch question

    My car needed the 10.5" w/ the 8 bolt pattern when I got my King Cobra put in. I was told that sometimes the door codes on the '00 GT aren't reliable and ones that should be using those are actually using 11" 6-bolt clutches. I was told that by a performance shop that said they had put in a...

    What do different conditions of old spark plugs mean?

    Thanks for all the replies! First off, it is the Haynes manual bit I was remembering. I just found mine again yesterday in storage, so that is it. Thanks for mentioning that, I thought I might be going crazy. Also, thanks for the link to that Autolight .pdf. That is pretty cool, too. I had...

    What do different conditions of old spark plugs mean?

    So, I pulled out my spark plugs and replaced them with motorcraft platinums (I had put in motorcraft copper plugs, last time). I find they have a white powder coat on the ends, and I am sure that means something specific. But what? Here they are after I took them out (cyl 4, 3, 2, 1, 5, 6, 7 8)...

    Has anyone here switched out their shocks/struts before?

    A second on the air tools, here... I didn't have them when I put in my shocks/struts and I had major issues trying to get the shaft of the stock struts to stay while breaking loose the nut on the end of those factory struts. I was putting in MM CC plates at the time, and that was by far the...

    Code weirdness help and other advice requested

    I changed the plugs out with the motorcraft platinum ones I bought for $24, and my car runs like new, again. :D I had an extended-time-to-start problem developing, and now the car starts up as quickly as it used to. Just cranks right over, now. Look at what I took out of there: The...

    Code weirdness help and other advice requested

    There's 8-10K mi on the new plugs. I haven't had a chance to remove/change plugs. I have relacement platinum plugs, but don't have the time to put them in, yet. The ones in there now are copper ones I put in a while back. I'll let you know what find when I pull the current ones.

    Code weirdness help and other advice requested

    Cliff Notes: Why would a cyl 1 misfire (P0301) code show up after a cold start, then go away after a 5-10 min drive? Details: So, I got a code scanner when my car had a "service engine soon" light and a miss or other intermittent rough-running/hesitation. I found only a P0301 (misfire...
