    Tuning help needed

Tuning help needed in South Denver area Well, I finally have the car to the point where it will start right up as soon as the key is turned. It runs ok, but when I hit is with the timing gun, it is sitting a 28* BTDC with an idle at about 750 rpm's. I can rev it to 3K without anything but the...

67-68 Cobra R model racing apron

Aaarrrggg, I worked on some stuff to get it on the road for a test drive without getting a ticket... headlights, brake lights, turn/marker, and rear backup. I also figured out the weird idle (the EGR baffle was pushed off to the side). And lastly, the P/S pump line was leaking. (got to get...

67-68 Cobra R model racing apron

Bringing this one back from the dead. My god it's been that long? It is just amazing how fast time goes by when life is beating you down. Things are great now. The car is running, I have the front end mounted and just have to add the grill tonight for fit. I will post the pics in the...

Combo too much for power brakes?

I would not think it was too severe either, but like I said, with the car idling at about 600-700 rpm's, the pedal goes strait to the floor until I pump it a couple of times. The brakes were bled and when the car is off I have a very firm pedal, as well as when the car is at or above about 1100...

Combo too much for power brakes?

Can someone tell if my combo would be too much for power brakes. When at idle, I have virtually no brakes. I turned up the idle to around 1000 rpm's and it is not so bad, but that seems way to high for an idle setting. Not to mention it almost jumps into gear. Info you might need: 91 5.0...

YES!! Got it started. Question on setting timing, etc

Hey everyone, thanks for all your help. I could not have done it without your help!!! Now that the car will start, (did it a few times np), a bit rough none the less, I need to resolve a few tuning pieces. The car starts right up, but is pretty rough, exhaust is very "gassy" smelling, and...

    EFI wires needed?

If you have read my posts (god knows there are a lot of them), I have had quite a few problems. But, each question resulted in a wealth of info on the conversion from these guys) Mis-information abounds on web. I have found that the folks here on Stangnet have been the most helpful. It may...

After all the problems the last issue is the fuel pressure regulator

I checked the threads as much as possible, but could not find the answer. Do I really need to use an adjustable FPR? I did the cam, heads (afr 165), intake (ported explorer) swap with 24# injectors, 70mm TB and 73 mass air. I am using a walpro 155 pump, which was used on some of the pickups...

Almost got is started... kind of a whoohoo??

Timing it was... I had the timing set on the exhaust stroke. Woops. Got it all set now. I do now have another concern. I had a small amount of fuel which had run out of the fuel pressure regulator. It was not a lot, but still leaking. Is it a nessesity to have an adjustable FPR?

Almost got is started... kind of a whoohoo??

Thanks. I check it tomorrow evening. There was a "checklist" that someone put together for a no start stituation on EFI. It may have been over on the 5.0 tech side. Too tired to search tonight. I'll see what I can dig up... I did get all the wiring loomed back together after my fuel...

Almost got is started... kind of a whoohoo??

Everything checks out... Turned it over and got a pretty loud back fire. It kind of got a good "burble" sound just before the backfire, but would not start. I am wondering if I the distributor stabbed at TDC. I could have sworn I confirmed it before putting on the valve covers??? Any...

    Headers with X-Pipe or H-Pipe?

There have been a ton of threads about this. Here is how I ultimately decided, because opinions are a%%H@les, everyone has one. I went to a local car show, early. I walked around as the cars were pulling in. When I heard the "right" sound, I walked over and talked to the owner. SHE was...

Startup = Moment of truth = FAIL - 5.0 EFI conversion help

I read a few times in a couple of other reads that it was not needed, as I don't have cruise control or A/C. Not true??? The only wires on the trans were the four for the Neutral safety switch? Is there supposed to be others?

Startup = Moment of truth = FAIL - 5.0 EFI conversion help

Wow that took forever!! I found the short. Being color blind sucks. :rlaugh: Anyway, short is fixed, and I also learned that I am a complete dumbass. (better to know it than to just walk around oblivious ) Can someone tell me which wires should be connected to which terminal on...

Startup = Moment of truth = FAIL - 5.0 EFI conversion help

Sorry about that, I had the wrong end of the wire connected, (old harness - I should have spliced into... instead, I had spliced into the end that was cut off/dead; I was being lazy and did not pull apart the '68's loom - it has been stripped out now, no loose dead ends left) The change was...
