How are these cars for daily drivers????

Car used to have a Procharger and 4:10s. Daily driving was great, about 27 mpg on the interstate. Now on its second total rebuild, it lives just 1/4 mile at a time...lol Hey Five O.....why 4800...that's way high???

    Suspension work over

Don't lower, if you plan on doing a lot of strip racing

    Let's see your custom hoods

so which hood did you settle on? Some good looking choices for sure Thanks Heavy GT It's not for everyone and there certainly is a big trade-off when going for dragstrip speed. Car has gone through complete body, motor, drivetrain, fuel rebuilds since last race season. It's not streetable...

cervini 4 inch cowl. Do not recommend a 4 inch for street driving, limited visibility.

    powerglide transmission

I will take it down the track but essentially my driving days are over for this vehicle. One of the most important mods is the driver mod...lol. Somebody way younger (I'm an old fart), with lightning reflexes, mucho racing experience at different levels, and of course an NHRA race license.

    powerglide transmission

I hear ya...trouble with dyno numbers is they are so inconsistent between machines and operators. We used to have this car and another one dynoed on a dynojet with the same operator. Then as we switched tuners, both vehicles were dynoed on the same mustangdyno with the same new tuner. Both cars...

    powerglide transmission

Don't pay too much attention to dyno numbers. We're looking for the lowest amount of power to get the car into the mid to low 9s. Car was running poorly when it hit 10.0 last november. That was at 22 lbs of boost. Think we're going to stay around 22-25 lbs of boost. Weight reduction is 250+ lbs...

    powerglide transmission

We have just installed a powerglide transmission (2 speed). Custom brackets and driveshaft are being fabbed to get it working on an S197. Pics show glide, scattershield and C4 bell housing. also pic of rebuilt motor

Horespower Gain from just a tune??

Why not try a dyno tune if there is a qualified professional available to you. Mine tuned his wife's 07GT and ran a 13.45 on a 100% stock car...with just a change to DRs for that evening

    A/C Delete???

It is a bit silly to start gutting such a nice car, for the odd track outing. However, if you insist upon deleting the a/c, install a full cage and run it through the outer a/c vents like we did. That way you can make sure to destroy the interior...lol. While you're at it, delete the nice sound...

    New pics - Lowered

Lowering is a very nice appearance mod...fills up the wheel well etc...but is not helpful for dragracing. Mate of mine who has a great looking lowered black stang (ETs in mid 11s), is having to revert back to stock height to further his ET goals.

Post pics of what you drove before your s197

No idea...they were on the car. stangdude2000 You have done some good research. Low mileage used Vipers are getting less and less expensive, but regardless you still have the same "viper tax" when you bring the thing in for service. It's a more expensive vehicle to maintain than a corvette...

Post pics of what you drove before your s197

haha...might look a bit strange....but when you add up what I've spent on the stang (I had to for my accountant...ouch) and add in the trailer and F250 turbo diesel, I bought to pull the thing to the tuners and track...way more money than the viper. Ironically, now that the stang is being...

    blower/engine build question

We ran 22 lbs of boost last season (2008). Whole car is being rebuilt presently...not sure if we are increasing boost...know we can get 27 lbs out the single 76mm turbo. Use a built 302 stroker block. So much depends of where you want to end up with the car??????

My 2002 viper GTS. Used it as a daily. Killed my aging back. Don't drive the stang anymore, since it's being turned into drag car only. Thinking of getting another viper for driving around town, now that back pain is gone.

KB vs whipple which will "grow" better with the car

Which blower is best? A better question is which blower is best for me...for my driving style...my goals (short and long-term). Do you intend for your car to remain a daily driver...will it be raced...how often...do you just want big horsepower numbers (dyno racer) or will you be looking for...

    Rebuilt Engine Pics

Know him real well. Real nice fella. He does like to break stuff though...lol...gets to use my car trailer as needed. +1. Car lives at TPS in Prairieville. Whole car is being gutted and rebuilt by them. Weight loss is a major focus. Think car has lost about 300 lbs already. There's a bunch...
