    Cobra II ID?

Very interesting! I have seen all those codes before, but have never seen them with the word Cobra listed.

    Cobra II ID?

From anything coded on the car, no. Unless you can find the built sheet under the rug or seats. You could order a Marti Report, or a 999 report from Ford. If you can post some good pics of your car, including the interior, we can at least see if it's got the right stuff to be a CobraII. I...

    Cobra II ID?

I don't believe that's true. I have never seen any data sheets showing Cobra specific interior codes. Interior codes usually refer to the color and seat type, nothing else. If you have deluxe seats and other parts went along with that package, then that's how it was, but there is no code to...

    Cobra II ID?

The only way to know for sure (from anything on the car), is from the buck tag. If it says "CB" on it, then it's a real Cobra. Keep in mind, that the Cobra package was just cosmetic. There is no specific body code, and no parts for the Cobra II that couldn't be swapped from another car. You...

    I need a VIN translation

You can't get that specific info from the VIN. You need to look on your radiator support for the buck tag. Dearborn cars have it on top by the hood latch, San Jose cars on the bottom, by the valance. That gives you all the codes for what the car was equipped with, and if it's a real Cobra II...

    95 Mustang V6 in a II

Same block as what? The 3.8 is not the same block as the 2.8. The 4.0 V6 is the evolved version of the IIs 2.8. As far as being done, anything can be done.

    Couple of electrical questions

Sure sounds like a poor engine to body ground. That extra strap on the trans may have been Ford's suppliment to the problem you are having. I had the same two issues you are having, on two seperate vehicles. On my old 76 Cobra II, I had the starter issue. Turned out, there was NO engine to...

    Mustangs Unlimited.com

II owners dig their own graves. They are a double standard. They want new parts but they don't want to shell out the money for them. They want better parts for what's available, but they don't want to pay better money. You can't expect any company to make parts for people that don't spend money...

    V8 starters, revisited

The Art Carr felx plate is just a rebalanced stock MII flexplate.

Duhhhhh, I missed the short part. :).

    Don't lift a 302 short block alone!!

I stock 5.0 block doesn't weight 311 lbs :). Maybe about half that weight. A beefy Dart 302 block is only 160, and the new mega beefed Ford Racing 302 Boss block is 210. A production 5.0 block is probably about 130 lbs or so.

    V8 starters, revisited

Well, here's what we figured out today.... My brother was running a Ford mini starter, which he purchased new. The motor, has a II auto flywheel, also purchased new. Looking at the wear pattern on the starter bendix and the ring gear, it looked like they were only contacting each other on the...

    V8 starters, revisited

Okay guys, what is the latest verdict on V8 Mustang II starters? IS there a II specific starter, or not? My brother has had constant issues with eating starters and ring gears for a while now on the Pro-Street 74. He's tried multiple starters, two bellhousings, two flywheels, and endless...

Never seen one of these before!!

Yeah, the vented ones are hard to find. They were only used on 76 Cobras and some very early 77s, and even then not ALL of them got the vented.

    Coil overs?

You can do coil overs as long as they are good quality units. The reason most "mustang II" spec hot rod parts say not for stock Mustang II's is because most of those parts don't fit the stock setup. They either attach differently, or don't clear the stock control arms. It's the Mustang II...

    74 mustang

Most parts interchange between all 5 years, but there are many small differences from year to year. Most of them are cosmetic, but some of them are not. The 74 has a different steering wheel and dash face (the wipers are in the dash, not on the lever like 75-78), and the dash pad has some...

    Performance Starter motor??

I have a new RobbMc performance starter if you are interested. It was for my brother's pro-street II, but didn't work with his custom oil pan. I run this same exact starter in my Shelby and love it. BTW, I also have a Meizire electric water pump if you are interested (saw your WP thread also).

    74 mustang

There's really no sources for new parts for these cars. What makes it even harder for you, is the 74 was different than 75-78, so it has many unique parts on it, like the nose. Honestly, the best place to look is ebay. There are lots of Mustang II guys that part out cars and there are often...
