Main differences between A code and K code

This won't be a complete list, but some of the differences were hotter camshaft (K), solid lifters (K) vs. hydraulic (A), screw-in rocker studs (K) vs press-in (A), 600cfm Autolite 4100 with manual choke (K) vs 480cfm with heated choke (A). You also had an extra counterbalance (K), crank...

What is your opinion? 3.80 or 4.10 8" rear

Go with a 3.80 or even a 3.55. Otherwise you just installed an expensive 4 speed... I'm happy with my 3.40:1 rear and 2.95 first, and even then I have to shift quickly. You have a 3.35 first, which is even lower geared. Your 0.68 overdrive should work nicely on the highway with either the...

Post your Average Fuel Mileage and Car here.

I'm hoping to do a mileage run this weekend and will report my data next week. It should be around 400miles of highway driving, but about half that will be through the mountains starting from 3500 ft to 4,800ft elevation and down to 15ft above sea level and back again (Bend to Portland, Oregon...

    Paint shop in the Northwest?

PM me and I can get you in touch with a painter who may be able to help you near Sunriver/Bend. He doesn't have a large shop, but he does great work and his price may be exactly what you are looking for. :D And, he owns a 67 and a 95 Mustang (Saleen Clone). Daniel (Bend, Oregon)

    Sloppy steering

There's a set of instructions on the Stangerssite.com website. I haven't tried it (yet), but it looks fairly simple to do. Just be careful you aren't masking worn gears, though. You'll be back where you started pretty quickly. Daniel

    Sloppy steering

I should add that you should check out http://www.stangerssite.com if you need your gear rebuilt. He'll rebuild your steering gear for ~$150 or so, which is pretty cheap for the job he does. :nice:

    Sloppy steering

Several things, either individually or collectively are causing this... Prime suspects for me are the tires. Some wider-than-stock tires (like my own 225/45R17 fronts) make my car tramline badly on some worn surfaces (wander and "surf" any rut in the road), but other than that is very stable...

Post your Average Fuel Mileage and Car here.

Thanks for the compliment. I have a 3.40:1 trac-lock from a Mustang II in my 8". Good compromise between performance and cruising. 1 through 5th is 7.6MPH, 11.5MPH, 16.6MPH, 22.4MPH and 35.4MPH/1000RPM. Cruise at 60MPH is 1700RPM. Gotta love the overdrive! :nice: Daniel

    T5 Help

The case(s) and sliders, however, are the same. If you can get an excellent deal on one, consider gutting it and rebuilding it with Z-spec gears (2.95 gearset), upgraded pocket bearing and counter gear stabilizer and proper input shaft and steel front bearing retainer, etc. You should then...

    Alignment finally close to specs

If you have bumpsteer, it is most noticed over large dips and bumps and with soft suspension. Stiffer suspension doesn't allow the arcs of the tie-rods and lower control arms to compete as much, so doesn't alter toe. What you are describing over rough, rutted or uneven roads is probably...

    Headers with T5

I'll try to get pictures up this weekend, both of the routing and where the potential problem areas are. You are correct, the RM cable exits the firewall under the MC through the hole the old clutch rod passed through. BTW, I looked at the Modern Driveline unit, and although it exits the...

    Headers with T5

I have the K-code manifolds with no clearance problems, but it's a Ron Morris unit that loops around in front of the fuel pump, then back along the oil pan rail. The Mustang Steve setup with the fox cable or the Modern Driveline one loops much farther back and may have interference issues with...

    Your Stance!!

Old thread, I know... but I just put 2003 Bullitts on (with 1" adapter/spacers) and wanted to add to the thread. This is with 1" drop 480lb-in front springs and 1" drop 200 lb-in composite leaf springs in rear. Tires are 225/45R17 in front, 235/45R17 in rear with no rubbing. Alignment is at...

Tips for keeping overspray out of cowl?

I like the towel idea. Here are two other ideas: WD40 or some other light greasy spray inside the cowl will keep the paint from sticking (but shouldn't affect the existing paint in the cowl if it is cured). Then hose it out with a mild detergent to get rid of the WD40 when finished. You...

    watter from exhaust?

Rbohm is right with #1. The water is usually just a byproduct of combustion--normal and expected. You might not have noticed it before. If you don't smell antifreeze burning and don't notice it disappearing, I wouldn't worry about it. When the engine warms up, you won't see it anymore...

    HiPo 289 Camshaft Specs

True, that. I listed what would be on the cam card in the 60s when the overall duration was the number many armchair quarterback "racers" would compare. Kind of like advertised HP... Even today many cams are known by the 0.006" not 0.050" lift duration numbers. I hadn't thought about ramp...
