    Upper ball joints are very inexpensive, just replace the whole thing. I don't know the specifics of the ones you mention, but no matter what even $45 is inexpensive.

    Do you know the history of this motor--could it have a cam with a 302 firing order? If the cam was ever swapped, that could be possible. Otherwise, the distributor off a tooth, timing chain jumped, or???

    My favorite is Avenue of the Giants---well worth the drive through LA and SFO and all points between and north to get there! "Wow" does not cover the experience. Tahoe/Auburn/Grass Valley don't suck either!

    Ditto on the screwdriver--I have even used a hammer to tap the screwdriver in further to hold the bolt up into place so I could loosen the nut.
