    could be the bearing rattling a bit on the bearing retainer, my 93 did that with 20k miles.

    gears are the best bang for the buck, and they look stock as well. as for the intake you really should look into doing something about it. if you really need to look stock, there is always extrude hone, be prepared to pay.

    no they are not, the aod doesn't have a 'lockup' cluth in it, just a splined hub inside that the od shaft fits into, thus the 4th 'clunk' that most aod owners experience. aode convertor has a lockup clutch that likes to glaze and needs CLEAN atf to function proplerly.

    out of toe would indicate to me that the whole axle housing is bent and would have to be jig welded to make it straight again.

    i always rattle away with the impact wrench till there is no play and there is a slight preload, then i smack the pinion with a big hammer at the nut end just to seat the bearings, rattle some more if necessary. always use a new crush sleeve.

    there won't be a clock spring missing in the 89 wheel because there is no airbag. just whatever sits behind the horn pad to ground the horn wire i guess. a diagram would be nice. i went to my dealer but the pictures he showed were useless, parts are obsolete anyway to them. thanx for the reply...

    as for shifts kits, i usually use transgo. u have to be careful not to go too aggressive on a stock aod. (heavy rotating mass) unless you go to a solid input shaft and non lockup convertor. tcsproducts dot com

    got me a car from icbc, written off. need a hood and left fender for an 89 lx 5.0, then it's off to inspection time. then the 373's and eaton posi go in, as well as h/c/i,tb,maf, and 24 lb. inj. gonna be a long winter. the odometer says 371k. sweet.

    back up lights wont turn off

    maybe the prndl switch? located on trans drivers side. unthread it with a 3/4 inch wrench see if the inner part moves freely. don't know if there are any backup light relays. also this tip applies only to aod's not aode's
