Electric cooling fan, whats the best route to go?

I found a Taurus 3.8 V6 2 speed fan that cools mine just fine. I wired up a Flex A Lite variable speed, soft start controller that doesn't need any relays. It "soft starts" the fan to avoid a spike in the startup amperage draw, and it's variable speed so it runs at partial speed at first...

    Dyno Tune

I went with a mild 351 using a stock A9P and was mostly concerned with a safe tune than max power out of it - I do lots of road driving with a heavy car. I talked to the dyno operator a few days before and he advised putting on an adjustable regulator and turning it down to 33 psi. I...

    Automatic Transmisson ???'s

Look on tci's website - on the AOD's the bottom line is the return the top line is out to the cooler Don't remember for sure which goes where into the radiator though, although I think it's bottom to bottom and top to top if I remember right.

Beefing up my AOD, Edge converter, solid input shaft, need some help though.

Wellll - the AOD is a little bit of a different animal in the lockup dept. The converter isn't where lockup occurs. Rather, in an AOD, lockup, or more accurately described as direct drive, occurs in the direct clutch pack. All that's in the converter that deals with lockup is a small inside...

    C4

Here's a listing of Ford automatic trans ratios, except the OD for the electronic wide ratio AOD (the 4R70W) is incorrectly listed as .67 like the AOD. It should be .7. http://www.thepontiactransampage.com/transgears.html The C4 takes significantly less power to turn, so you would gain some...

friend with 5.0 has a question...

I'm fairly certain I've read flow test reports comparing most of the popular heads, and although the X heads are better than the other GT heads, as far as I remember they don't stand up to the AFRs and other good aftermarket brands.

    AOD OR AODE

Yup - the 94's was a "transition"EEC system that had some add ons to deal with an electronic trans. Here's some info for ya http://www.lincolnsonline.com/tech/00080.html

    351W swap questions

From what I know, that's the double hump pan you can use that'll fit your chassis. You'll also need the pickup that goes with that pan. On mine, I re-used my 302 dipstick and tube, just had to bend it some to get it thru the headers. Goes into the side of the block just like the 302. Mine's a...

    AOD n00b need some help

AOD's are pretty close ratio 1-2-3, and shift pretty quickly from 2 to 3 even with stock gears. When you go deeper gears, it shifts even quicker. Stock, the Mustang AOD shifts out of 2nd at about 4750, so if you held it in 1st to above that, that's why it immediately shifted into 3rd. I don't...

    351W Windsor Motor

I built a mild 351 but the actual swap details should still apply. I did that instead of making a 331 becuz I want to go 393 eventually. www.lincolnsonline.com/article144.html

    transmission problem

On higher mileage transmissions, the OD band servo rod can wear the case enuf to allow a pressure leak past it. Sonnax makes a servo applicator rod with an O ring in it that is supposed to cure that. Check out the Sonnax site. They also have a good symptom-problem table in there that can help...

What needs to be done to an explorer intake to run on a mustang???

I had bought a cheap metal air intake setup and just drilled a hole in the elbow just before the throttle body, used a rubber grommet, and put the air temp sensor there. That got it out of the EGR gasses that are let into the intake and can gum up the sensor (my old one was WAY gummed up) but...

    Electric fan swap ,need help/advice

I used a Flex A Lite variable speed controller for my Taurus 3.8 fan, works very nicely and I believe it's a little cheaper than the other unit mentioned. No relays or other switches needed. You can set it to whatever on temp you want. It "soft starts" the motor to avoid a high spike in the amp...

302 to 351 (serious, not 5.0 talk style)

I went 351 with plans for making it a 393 later. Here's my experience - every little nut and bolt that I could think of. www.lincolnsonline.com/article144.html If you don't plan to stretch it, I'd definitely consider a 331 (I'd prefer that cuz of the somewhat better rod/stroke ratio, rod...

    mid pipe bolts stuck, help!!

Take a look at this - makes the whole exhaust thing a POC!! http://www.lincolnsonline.com/article91.html To separate that rear H pipe connection, put a jack under the rear trans mount, loosen it, and let it down some.

    Can you feel the difference?

Higher ratio will add some to mostly your mid range torque/throttle response because of the added lift, however on a basically stock headed motor, the diff likely will be somewhere around 10+ lb-ft. It won't move your hp or torque peaks up cuz the duration is only increased by a couple...

    Edelbrock Question

While it's true that the Torker will have less low and maybe mid-range torque and throttle response than a dual plane, your stock cyl heads won't make use of any good intake's potential. The RPM Air Gap is the best dual plane, period, but won't do you much good without better heads. If...

i need your suggestions, tips, hits....

I'm sure the Ford harness is good quality, however (and I don't know the price for it) I bought a very good, complete Interactive Systems Technologies www.mass-air.com I think on ebay for about $35.00. There really isn't that much to it, just a plug for the mass air meter with wires and...
