    Another rear end question

How do I tell what kind of rear end I have (8", 8.8", or 9")? on a standard '69 fastback, 3 speed mt, 2.79:1 "conventional" gears. I've been looking over at http://www.currieenterprises.com/cestore/ProductsRE.aspx?id=2085 for rear disc brakes and cant figure out which I need. Thanks

Weight of a 69'FB fully stripped?

Kind of an odd question, but does anyone have an idea of what a '69 fastback weighs fully stripped down? And by stripped I mean no suspension, windows, complete teardown restoration. I'm trying to decide if I should pull the suspension before I have the car media blasted, but I wasnt sure if...

    AUTOZONE Engines

i'm just pretty interested as well, the price isn't bad either. I know I'll end up sinking more money into it to make it a "performance" engine, but at least I'll have a sound "stock" foundation to build from.

    AUTOZONE Engines

Some of you are aware of my busted block dilemma, but I may have found a solution. Autozone sells a complete 390 for $1419.99 AND it comes with a 3 year warranty. Now, does anyone have any experience with these engines? Thoughts, gripes?

    Arrrggghhh!!! Lead!!

Did Ford use lead on the roof? While prepping the body (taking it down to bare metal) I noticed an awful lot of scratches from my sander on the metal, then I scratched at it with my fingernail and pulled up some metal. All 4 corners of the roof have been leaded. The sheet metal parts have been...

Paint and body...what can I get for $3500?

Tampa really isnt that far away from Orlando. Its no where near as far as I've taken my car. I'm north of Gainesville and am having work done at Dave Miller Performance (www.Davemillerperformance.com) ,1900 North Orange Blossom Trail.

    Build up ideas. 69 fastback, 390FE w/ T-5

The car's not an original 390 car, came with a 302. I had planned on building the 390 just because I had it and because it was different.

    Build up ideas. 69 fastback, 390FE w/ T-5

Well, I'm headed down to NPD in Ocala today, I'll definitely be picking up that book, thanks D. Hearne. Now if I can only find what vehicles came with a TKO, i'd be in business.

    Build up ideas. 69 fastback, 390FE w/ T-5

Whats needed to improve the oiling system? Engines are not my forte', so believe my the advice is appreciated. My budget for the rebuild is $2,000 - $2,500, not including new heads and intake. I'd love to walk into the machine shop with a laundry list of tasks to do. What would you suggest based...

    Build up ideas. 69 fastback, 390FE w/ T-5

Keep the ideas coming, it sure is helping. On the Transmission side of things, where can I get a used TKO? My original thought was to part out a late model GT for the T5, but I think you all are right, I need stronger. I'm not looking to race the car, but I do want something thats going to...

    Build up ideas. 69 fastback, 390FE w/ T-5

Well, my baby is almost completely stripped. The only things left to be pulled are the front and rear suspension, brake lines and front and rear glass. As soon as thats complete it will go down to Orlando to be media blasted and to have the floorpans, battery tray, trunk extensions and both...

    When I Become A Millionaire.....

PRICE!! @ 140 K for a new/used Freightliner (Wheeled Coach MAV) they don't come cheap and repair parts are significantly more expensive. The only benefits I see are greater visibility ( down blouses at redlights ), better turning radius ( i was surprised at that, it will out-turn a van or p/u...

    When I Become A Millionaire.....

All we've ever had were Wheeled Coach's MAV's, have never had good reliability with us. I think part of that has to do with the Freightliner chassis though. We're lucky in that we run 2 medics per truck so we get to swap after every call. Can't let your basics have all the fun driving :)...
