First P-51 Intake Running in Alberta

You can't add a RWHP gain to an SAE Net rating and get any meaningful number. It's like adding apples and oranges, or Canadian and US dollars without a currency conversion. If your 290 number is an SAE J1349 number from a dynojet, I would suggest that you are closer to 340 SAE Net. -Matthew

First P-51 Intake Running in Alberta

Well, I don't know about you, but I've personally run thousands of dyno tests with the Mustang MD-600 and cross referenced them against dynojets in back to backs, drag strip results, and tests on the same or similar vehicles at other facilities, and I can tell you that my conversion to SAE Net...

H/C/I install, P-51 intake, with dyno results

I just posted on the main thread as well, but these tests were on a Mustang MD-600. Equivalent dynojet numbers would be about 298 HP / 317 ft-lbs at the wheels. A stock 05 GT on the same dyno tests about 240 RWHP. You can also see the comparison tests for other cars tested at the same...

First P-51 Intake Running in Alberta

It's a Mustang MD-600 which reads quite a bit lower than the dynojets. On a dynojet, it would be about 298 HP / 317 ft-lbs, at the wheels. I run a dyno shop and I can assure you that this is a reasonable cross reference. As another reference, a stock 05 GT makes about 240 HP at the wheels on...

H/C/I install, P-51 intake, with dyno results

I posted this thread in Canada West, but afterwards realized that it might be of more general interest. I recently completed a heads/cam/intake/headers etc. install with a P-51 intake and Comp XE262AH cams, and Bassani mid length headers. If you're interested, you can read about it, including...

First P-51 Intake Running in Alberta

You have a lot higher compression on a 96, and long tubes, and aftermarket mufflers, and if I'm not mistaken you also have a cold air setup right? All of those things make a difference. I compared the car to a reference car which was quite similar to yours - 98 GT, long tubes, PI head swap...

First P-51 Intake Running in Alberta

I recently completed a significant upgrade on my 02 Mustang GT Convertible. The car is a daily, year round driver and while I wanted better performance, reliability and streetability were also of paramount importance. As many of you know, I have another Mustang that’s oriented more toward the...

What do Canadians really think about guns for self-defence?

Well, I'm happy to report that since the introduction of the Canadian Firearms Registry, farmers and ranchers are no longer tearing up the streets of Calgary with their sporting rifles and shotguns. I just can't understand why the asian gangs that ARE shooting up our streets haven't registered...

    heads

The earliest V8 Explorers actually used the GT40 iron heads, not the GT40P. If you get those, you don't have to change headers. -Matthew

    mass air harnesses

The harness is different almost every year. 87-88 are the same 89 is same as 87/88 but with MAF wiring 90 is unique 91 and early production 92 are same late 92 and 93 are same Couldn't tell you about the 86, but matching the engine harness with the chassis harness turns out to be one...

    4.6L Build Up Questions...

That car had all of the common bolt ons, long tube headers, and a "flap wheel" port job on the heads. I recently did an install of the Bassani "Mid Length" headers on my own 02 GT, and they are a lot easier to put in than the long tubes, but unlike the "shorty" headers for the 2V mod motor...

    Blizzaks

I wouldn't drive the winter tires year round - they don't look or perform as well as good summer tires when it's actually summer, and they will wear out quick on dry warm roads. I got a set of 16" wheels off a 94/95 Mustang for the Blizzaks. You can usually buy those wheels cheap - less than...

    Blizzaks

Great tires. I use them on my 02 GT. With the Blizzaks and traction control, the car is the best winter vehicle I have, short of my 4x4 Super Duty. I don't know where you are from, but guys like me and Silvr04GT from Western Canada know a few things about winter! :) -Matthew

    4.6L Build Up Questions...

If you are going to run the XE262AH cams, you might as well stick with the stock pistons and rods. Also, don't waste you money on the "shorty" headers. Bassani's "mid length" headers are more like what you would normally call shorties, but are a lot easier to install than real long tubes...

How hard is it to install a intake manifold?

Way easier than a 5.0 manifold, that's for sure. Good luck. -Matthew

HELP BAD IDLE!!! Please for the love of god

I've seen the EGR valve have a tear in the membrane and cause a vacuum leak inside the valve. Check for this by pulling the line off the valve and plugging it. It's a bit of a long shot, but not something you normally think of checking. -Matthew

    PI Head Removal - advice

I have a 1997 Mustang shop manual (Ford version), which looks like it should be close enough. What do you think? -Matthew
