    PI Head Removal - advice

I'm going to pull the heads off my 02 GT next week and I am wondering if anyone knows whether it's possible to pull the heads with the factory exhaust manifolds attached, or if I really have to remove the manifolds first. Obviously the job would be much quicker if I didn't have to pull the...

    T56 or TKO 600?? HELP!!!!!!

00s281sc368: I put about the same amount of power as you through a T5 and I have a friend who has about 540 at the flywheel and is doing the same thing. Both T5's are still fine, even though they are only rated at 300 ft-lbs. You are correct that transmissions routinely take more torque than...

    T56 or TKO 600?? HELP!!!!!!

The T56 is only rated to 425 ft-lbs, or I think 475 on the viper version. Tremec's warranty now is 90 days, void if raced. -Matthew

Can anyone analyze my compression test?

#5 and #7 are too low assuming that the compression test was done the same way for each cylinder. Tests should be within about 10% of each other. Try a leakdown test on those cylinders to check for busted ring lands or a blown head gasket. You MIGHT be ok, but those numbers look pretty...

    T56 or TKO 600?? HELP!!!!!!

The TKO 600 costs about 2/3 as much as a T56, and is much stronger. It's also a perfectly good transmission for the street. In my opinion there is no contest in this choice. -Matthew

how i can find out if car got gears

Jack the car up at the back, take it out of gear/emergency brake off, then rotate the wheels and count the number of revolutions on the driveshaft to turn the wheel once. Use chalk or paint stick to mark the tires and driveshaft if you have having trouble. That will give you your ratio...

Shifter question for Tremec 500 / 600 people

I used a handle off a Hurst 5.0 shifter I had lying around. It works great. The shifter that comes with the transmission is fine too. Good luck. -Matthew

    Heatercore hoses from firewall leaking

Ford still sells those hoses too. Definitely cut them off or your will break the welds on the heater core like others have already said.

What everyone's projects for the winter?

Well I guess we'll see. It looks pretty promising to me. I've tried some bullitt intake cars and wasn't all that impressed, so I thought I'd give the P-51 a try on my own car. -Matthew

    Well I made a decision.....

Take a look at all of the super street outlaw racers, they either run Nitrous, Turbo, or a centrifugal supercharger. These cars run in the 7's. Guys who run mod motor cobras with roots or twin screw superchargers run in the 10's at low elevation tracks. At World Ford Challenge this year I didn't...

    Well I made a decision.....

Who cares how much torque you make at 2000 RPM when you need to launch it at 5000 RPM. That's why all of the fast guys with superchargers run centrifugal. -Matthew

    questions for a N/A car

You can flow something like 70% more air than a stocker requires with the stock MAF which is already 80mm. If you think about it, that's about the typical size people put on a 5.0 with a 75mm TB. -Matthew

    Solid Lifter Adjustments. How often....??

I run them on my 351W and although I check them at least once a year (on a mostly track only car), they usually don't need much or any adjustment. I don't think I've had one vary by more than 2 thou, and it's entirely possible that I got that kind of variance when I set them. -Matthew

    351W swap questions

Probably, but you should probably think about an SFI balancer like the Powerbond. Take a set of 5.0 fuel rails and cut the hoses connecting the two sides off, then widen them using fuel injection rubber fuel hose. You need a 351W oil pan. You can use one from an early eighties 351W Crown Vic...

    slick fitment question

It should fit, however you will probably have to delete the quad shocks, and maybe have to give a slight roll to the fender lip. I ran 26x10.5 ET Streets on my 90 coupe without any mods, but the ET Drags are wider. I run 28x10.5 ET Drags on the car now, but have a slight fender roll, quad shock...

help cant decide which cam to get

I'd consider the Comp XE262AH if I was you. I've seen dyno tests on very similar cars using the 262AH and the VT Stage 2 respectively and they are very close. In the tests I saw, the Comp Cams equipped car was slightly better. You won't have any P/V clearance issues with the 262AH either...
