    Removing Chrome

I want to paint the side steps on my 56 body color. They were chromed by a previous owner. I'm not to savvy on diy chrome removal and thinking the best bet will be to take them to a chrome shop to have it stripped. I'd hate to pay a ton of money for it if there is a simple diy approach to...

Plasma Cutter. My New Favorite Tool

Thinking I'll order through Home Depot and see if I can get an extended warranty on it. That way I don't have to ship anything and can just take it back to the store.

Plasma Cutter. My New Favorite Tool

View: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005DO7VDM/?tag=pickwelder05-20 Now you have me looking at this one. Looks to have decent reviews. But the only real difference I see is the pilot arc start for plasma.

Plasma Cutter. My New Favorite Tool

This is a Combo unit? Does it tig fairly well. I'd hate to get it and find it really is just a plasma cutter and tig is really just for looks and I can I say I have a tig welder.

Plasma Cutter. My New Favorite Tool

Lotos has been 50/50 in reviews and everyone that has had trouble has had trouble with support side when something goes wrong. Even those with a warranty have had issues with getting stuff fixed or even parts.

Plasma Cutter. My New Favorite Tool

Yeahhh... I looked at the logos brand and it has a lot of mixed reviews. I want something that will be around in 10 yrs and won't cause me too many heart aches over the years. Everyone points to the big manufacturer. I know I'm going to pay for that but I've got a excellent gift coming from the...

Plasma Cutter. My New Favorite Tool

I've been looking around for a bit for a good plasma cutter. My only requirement was it be American made. Miller, Lincoln, Hobart etc. all good brand names that have parts available if needed. I've heard nothing but good things about hem Miller 375 and I just wanted to see what folk's opinions...

After 2 Years Sitting, Fires Up.

I noted that the brake fluid reservoir was pretty much empty and the power steering reservoir was pretty close to being empty. There was no fluid puddle under the car though. Where did this stuff go? It's almost comical. I'm going to pull the wheels off and check the brakes. Maybe some new seals...

Why are you adding octane boost? Will it not run on regular pump gas without pinging? From what I see on the mods you shouldn't need it.

    Cold Garage

We're having a cold one today too. High of 66 but we'll be back up to 72 mid week. It's brisk out there. Might have to put some pants on versus shorts

Thanks. Still working on the 56 too. It's nice to be able to go from one to another. I've missed this one. Can't believe I thought about selling it. I know it's old, loud, not really comfortable, and doesn't corner or brake like the mach 1 but it is an awesome car.

Not sure if I'm going to go back to it or not. Rare but not super sexy. Yeah, even when stuff broke it always got me home. Water pump shaft broke, got it home. Smog pump seized, took belt off and got it home.

Haven't shown the notch much love over the last few years. Changed oil and oil filter, topped off the brake fluid ( it was low and not sure why) and Added auto trans fluid to power steering. I removed the distributor and primed the oil pump. I let it turn over without the coil to see if I...
