    Exactly what these guys said. I did the I6 to 393 swap. It was trciky figuring it al out but then again until now I had never even worked on a car. Level out the engine with a stand and the oil pan should not hit. What tranny are you using? You will have to get a new bellhousing ya know...

    This may be too simple but did you try checking your belts for wear and tension? They could be throwing everything off.

    Exactly what he said. Your back spacing should be 4.5. As for your lug question. Do you have a 4 or 5 lug?

    Uh.... If your vavles are caked then I would also check out your pistons and cylinders for excessive wear as well as check out your piston rings. I would replace those valves unless they are good enough to be machined.

    Underhood heat problems

    You may want to test your radiator cap to see if it is holding pressure. If it seems suspect replace it. Also check your thermostat to make sure it is working properly.
