How can you tell what year my 289 was built?

Under the car, behind the starter on the block is a casting number. It will read something like xxxx-xxxx-x or close to that. The first two digits are all you need for year anyways. The first digit will be a letter c=60s d=70s e=80s Second digit will be a number and specify the exact...

How much ground clearence do you have?

Also about 4.5 from the collectors to the ground. The speedbumps they have at my school are ridiculous, I have to go over almost all of them at a pretty steep angle. Most speedbumps/driveways aren't a problem with the stiffer suspension though, that made all the difference.

What do the girls think AFTER you give them a ride?

Haha, I've given most of the good looking girls at school rides many times. They'll take me for a spin in their RSX or Integra that they think is quick and later on I wind up giving em a ride somewhere. They either love it or hate it in my experiences. A few of them are just downright scared...

    66 mustang rearend

Ditto, unless you have big power or slicks in your plans, the 8 inch will hold up fine.

    time to be realistic

Maybe I missed a first post or something...what exactly is your goal? For a streetable 450hp at the fly from a 351 you're going to need a cam, intake, carb, heads, good exhaust. To make the combo streetable and get half decent mpg, you'll probably need to go ahead with the stroker plan or...

    Most annoying things people do

When crusing down the road people insist on waiting til your close, then pulling out really fast in front of you. Fine, I'm still pissed, but atleast there not gonna hold me up if they came out that fast. WRONG. They go like 10 mph the entire way, and take every turn I need to. Needless to...

    Summering Modding Time

    1. Bigger carb: no expert, but I'd think a 750 would do nicely. 2. Bigger cam: dependin on your plans for the car, big high power rpm cam for strip, something smaller and more streetable for a driver, or a compramise of the two for both. 3. Intake that matches your carb power band. Prolly...

Loud Exhaust for classic stangs (289)

I like my 40s a lot, paired up with an O/R H, it was definately the rumbly muscle car sound I was looking for. Almost anything you do to your engine is going to affect the way it sounds in some form, no matter how slight, the biggest obviously being CAM, rocker arms, heads. I forgot to read...

Ok guys, gimmie your best stories

Latest PO was a big fan of epoxy, everywhere it could be used, it was, even some of the transmission...yea that had to be fixed... Then there was the "ziptie clamps" around the fuel line connecting to the tank. Also had a holley 750cfm mech 2ndaries on an almost completely stock engine...

    1966 mustang

Welcome to the forums. There's been many detailed writeups on the 6 to 8 swap that you can find by using the search function, atleast a few should come up. As for the radiator, larger ones can fit with fabrication, but unless your pushing some pretty heavy power, a stock sized 3 or 4 row...

Quite Performance Exaust ? which one is the best.

Well...that's kind of a toughy, I don't know how big the "quiet muffler aftermarket" is, but you never really hear about the quiet ones, it's always the ear-bleeding ones that get the attention. Maybe look into Flowmaster Delta Flows? They're susposed to be quietER and bassy, although I've...

What kind of reactions do you guys get on the street?

People don't really give me thumbs up or too much around here, but they definately stare. I dunno if it's because they like the car or are just trying to find out where the loud noise is coming from :D Fellow stangers usually give me a wave or rev or something. 8/10 times I go to the gas...

    Suspension is IN

Seems like suspension is the project of the month, but I'll go ahead and post a few pics anyway. Put in all the parts in my sig, took about four days, bout one and a half of those trying to get the spring compressor to work, and I still didn't get them out in "textbook fashion". Car rides...

    Mustang Plus Upgrade ?

Just finished puttin in all my parts. If you're thinking about going with the kit, make sure to get leaf spring bushings seperately. I didn't pay full attention ordering and didn't notice they weren't included and had to wait for them to come grrrr. I'll let ya know how it rides, my first...

    Help with exhaust choices

H pipe is best with chambered mufflers and X with straight-thru types. With an O/R H and dumps I'd probably plan on headaches :D I like my 40 Flows, but everyone has em.
