    oil pan Q&A

my oil pan has busted threads on the drain hole that the previous owner repaired with liberal RTV. factor in dents + a bent rail and i need a new pan. so will this pan work with a '87 block in a '66 (God only knows what timing cover): OIL PAN 260 289 289 Hi Po 302 w/ Plug no Gasket 1964-1973...

    mustang pinewood derby car?

guess i'm in a minority here with cub scouts? it gets uglier every time i try to add more paint, but here is the progress without wheels: ps... for my big kid's truck, i was going for a late 70's datsun 720

Do you drive your classic in the winter?

welp, i laid out of work today to go and get plates for my car finally after a 8 months of ownership. $38 later (including back taxes owed by the previous owner) i'm legal. i came home, changed the oil (M1 10W30), and hit the streets! to answer the OP's title question... now i do. as for...

So what's the cheap option or those of use who have not committed to cutting the core support yet and have the water pump sucking from the driver's side?

    mustang pinewood derby car?

last year i owned a C3 corvette, so when it came time to make my littlest son's car for cubscouts, he wanted a vette and i made one using my car as the model: actual car: well, as you can guess, this year we have a mustang and he wants that. anyone tried this before or have any...

    need a new flexplate

update: i picked up my car this afternoon from the transmission shop with a fresh "built for abuse" C4 today. it certainly has a better shift and no red oil pouring out the bottom, but the big difference is that now i have the correct flexplate and the difference driving the car is amazing...

Non EFI 5.0HO in my 65

i heard the exact opposite from my friends who are mechanics: they said a stock crank is just fine, but the T5 is made of glass.

Anyone planning on dropping the new 5.0 into a classic?

for me, absolutely no way. it would ruin the spirit of the car. might as well put on big chrome rims and lambo doors to complete the bastardization process of an American classic. if i wanted a modular mustang, i would have bought one new. if i was filthy rich, there is only one modular that...

    need a new flexplate

done! the guy called tonight and said my C4 is out, apart, and is one of the nicer ones? but it is overdue to be built. i ordered before i saw your post, but thanks anyway. how do you keep your car clean and dent free on that island? my in-laws and extended family lives in the metro area and...

    Fuel Injection vs Carba

i'm not biased either way (FI vs carb), but i certainly like the look of a carb and i have never had any cold start issues with my cars. having said that, i have always owned divorced choke Q-jets and although they may have been less that ideal on a track they are dependable and deliver good...

    need a new flexplate

my car is built out of a frankenstein collection of used parts and i'm currently working through a few issues. the biggest issue that is keeping me off road is that i have a new engine ('87 HO for a manual transmission) with a 28oz flexplate turning a who-knows-what C4. i'm getting quite a bit...

    66 Coupe restoration pics!

i sold a beautiful '73 corvette hotrod to potentially save my '66 I6 ****box from the crusher. so i guess i agree with you 88gt. besides, according to my birth certificate, i'm not worth saving either.

for those of us who are still in primer and heavily under construction (captains of clunkers), this is kind of fun: Newstalgia Wheel, American Racing Wheels, Boyd Coddington Wheels, Billet Vintiques, Colorado Custom Wheels, Cragar Wheels, Bonspeed Wheels, Foose Wheels, Radir Wheels, TQ Chrome...

    opinions of side exhaust

your exhaust sounds good. maybe 15 or so years back, soon after i got out of the military, i was seeking a hotrod and chased an ad in the paper for a '67 cougar. it was a 289 with a 4 speed, but it was kind of rough around the edges. i passed on it, but kind of always wished i had bought it...

    opinions of side exhaust

my car has tri-y's to anemic 2" pipes with el cheapo turbo mufflers and i hate the sound. the previous owner told me to be careful revving the engine or it will bust a muffler. so i guess this winter i will break down and replace the entire system, but i'm unsure of what i want. the car has a C4...

Just how safe can you feasibly get a first generation Mustang to be?

i love you. my 2¢ is that the only thing more precious than life is quality of that life. i do my daily commute in a 400hp 2005 model because i could not buy a 400hp '65 model new (or i would have). life is too short to be a lemming stuck in a camry or accord.
