Who has painted their own car?

Nah, the car is a roller and the body and paint will be the first things done.

Who has painted their own car?

Not to hijack the thread, but I have a question in the same vein... I'm starting to the body work on my new project and I was wondering if it is OK to primer the car for what will probably be a couple of months before its painted or will the primer absorb moisture, etc???

Its pretty much a done deal... It'll be about a week before I can pick it up but it'll be in good hands sooner than later. Thanx for the input :nice: BTW: Who here has actually replaced a cowl panel? This will be my first time attempting it. It doesn't look that hard, but looks can...

I've ran the VIN and the door tag... its a factory t-top, 302, 5-speed car. This would be my 5th fox, so I'm not unfamiliar with the ends and outs. The cowl is the only "major body" work. There are some dings and stuff to fill, but it is 21 years old. Honestly, I think one of the best...

Its been a little while since I've had time to post, but I've come across what I consider a pretty good deal.... but I'm getting some resitance from some friends so I figured I would get some un-biased third party opinions. I've come across an 85 T-top GT roller. The body is straight as an...

OT: Know anything about Thunderbird SCs?

Hi all. I'm looking for a new DD and I stumbled across a nice '91 Thunderbird SC with 95k for cheap. My question is do these things have any "typical" problems I need to look for and how reliable are they and for how long? Any help would be appreciated. Thanx!

    OT: Explorer towing question

I've already got the trailer... had it for a long time. I just want to make sure the vehicle will tow it before I lay out the $$$. And word to the wise... NEVER paint your bands logo on the van or the trailer... its a dead giveaway to whats inside.

    OT: Explorer towing question

I've got the oppurtunity to pick up a nice 95 exploder with less than 100k dirt cheap and I was thinking about using it as my bands tour bus, so to speak. The thing is it will have to pull a 4x6 trailer with our equipment weighing in at about 1200 lbs or there about. Can the 4.0 do it...

    Heater Core Headache

Ford hasn't made their own cores in the last 18 months... you wind up paying $45 for cheap chinese junk. I order high quality cores, I just have some sort of underlying issue with pressure or something that I need to figure out.

    Professional Mechanics

Choice of career is a very personal decision. It works for me. I picked up a wrench for the first time at age 5 and its never gotten old. As far as compensation goes, again, its a personal thing. I've learned never to use money as a barometer for success... I judge success by the feeling I...

    Professional Mechanics

I just jumped into it and I love it. I'm 27 and after 8 years in the broadcasting industry and I guess I appreciate good pay and good work... maybe I haven't done it long enough, but as much as I like cars and as long as I've been working on them I really don't see myself burning out anytime...

    Which Tools?

Thanx for your opinions... I had a feeling that Mac and Snap-on would probably take the lead on this one... The other guy in the shop uses Mac and the driver usually comes once a week so I might give them a try but I'm strongly leaning toward starting a relationship with Snap-On just from...
