289 was built by chevy ???????

So nothing verifiable then? No wonder I didn't recognize this thread; nobody had posted in it for a month shy of 20 years.

    Source for 2.3L oil pan

No, that one is for the Duratec 2.3s.

    Boost controller

That is the simpler way. Which MegaSquirt do you have? What part of using the boost control are you having trouble with? It's pretty easy IMO.

87 GT with cam and headers. Do I need an aftermarket manifold and TB

Sounds like it may be a stroker or 351W-based with undersized induction and/or heads. There again, we need to see it.

Aluminum non-metric brake calipers for use on 11" granada rotors?

I don't think any of the OEM metric calipers are aluminum, but there are aftermarket options like Afco, maybe Wilwood, and probably others.

Hey whats up! More 2.3 power needed

If you plug the BCS line, you'll have base wastegate boost all the time. If you replace it with a straight tube so the tee vents into the compressor inlet, you'll have the "high" boost setting all the time. Be cautious of what the Chinese turbo's base pressure is; mine was like 20psi+ and the...

Hey whats up! More 2.3 power needed

I don't know if the ECU looks for it, but functionally the engine will work without it.

Hey whats up! More 2.3 power needed

I don't have that IC setup so I can't recommend it one way or the other, but I can say this: it will likely save you hours upon hours of the fitting, fabricating, and hassle of plumbing some other intercooler yourself. Plus it helps support Stinger who does a lot to support the 2.3T community...

Hey whats up! More 2.3 power needed

That brass and plastic sensor doesn't go in the turbine elbow bung and the long extension on the fuel pressure gauge makes me uneasy.

    5 lug conversion questions...yes I have searched

I put cut-to-fit axles from a different brand in my MI 8" and I can tell you this: it's a PITA to cut the heat-treated spline end. And yes, the 8" center sections all interchange. I think just getting different wheels is the shorter distance between two points though.

Aluminum non-metric brake calipers for use on 11" granada rotors?

Is parts availability the only reason you don't want (Chevy) metric stuff? You're more likely to find brake hoses in BFE for an S10 than for a MII. Just get some brass fitting adapters so they mate up to the chassis lines. On top of that, there are lots of options for aluminum Chevy metric...

Hey whats up! More 2.3 power needed

The one in your link looks like it's for the fan. The sensor on the left of your photo is a coolant temperature sensor for the EFI. It goes on the top side of the intake near the cylinder head between runners 2 and 3. I was mistaken about the one I marked "temperature sending unit;" the 2.3T...

    Engine Spout connector (Code 18)

Since there's no active circuitry on that, the resistors are probably there to alter sensor values seen by the ECU. Usually the strategy is to make intake air and coolant temps look lower than they are so the engine runs more fuel and timing. It might even make the (narrowband) O2 sensor signal...

Hey whats up! More 2.3 power needed

I forgot the very top one is the the intake air temp sensor(applicable to '87-88 Turbo Coupe only).

Fuel Starvation Issue Carbureted 1987 5.0

Fuel pump eccentric was the first thing I thought of. The EFI engines just have a little oil slinger in place of an eccentric. It might drive the pump a little bit and maybe for a little while, but it's going to fail if that's the case.

    Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator

Firstly, fuel pressure is 39-41psi with the vacuum line off, not with it connected. This is referred to as the base pressure. Before gettting excited, know that you can't rule-out heat-related problems like the TFI after everything cooled off like that. No, vacuum is quite high under light...

    Diesel Mustang?

That's what regular gas costs here. Diesel is about 10% more. A Mustang is more aero and the diesel would likely get better economy in one than the Ranger. 9.8L/100km is about 23.5mpg. However, the diesel would have to deliver at least 26mpg (+10%) for it to just break even on fuel cost and a...

    Diesel Mustang?

A 7.3 PSD weighs over 900lbs. I don't know what the IDIs weigh. If you're building a car around the engine, fine, but the factory unibody and front suspension probably won't handle it. Speaking of handling, there wouldn't be any. There are many smaller and lighter diesels that would be better...

    Explorer 302 or 289?

It's not difficult. Everything on the front of your 302 will fit on the front of that 5.0. You don't need adapters for anything. I know you said you want the accessories off the Explorer engine, but an Explorer setup is IMO the least desirable serpentine conversion. It would be simpler and...
