My recipe for built AOD..am I missing any seasoning here?

no but i think your making a mistake on the 2600 stall speed, unless you have 4.10's you want 3000 about.....i had a 2200 and it felt no different than stock. and you don't seem to making crazy hp, so your actual stall speed is gonna be around 2300 w/ that 2600

    4 lugs and drag slicks?

it's the axle shaft you need to worry about. keep the launches under 4k and you might be fine, use cheater slicks for extra insurance if you want. usually they will break loose b4 you break an axle

How much power can a built AOD handle?

350-400 you should be ok, just plan on rebuilds often (every other year) if not then be happy for it. a cooler, shift kit, and "a" servo will do much for you, also synthetic fluid, if your tranny guy is good, he might even drill out some of the oiling holes in the valve body 2800 might be...

Is it worth porting stock heads?

yup i agree, but typically people who can't afford something better , or just don't have something better, will back up what they have, to the point of obsession. i notice in the sig it says stock heads then specifies that the "valves" are stock ? so is that it? and then says "bolt-ons"...

Is it worth porting stock heads?

i don't think so, the best budget head combo you can do is iron gt-40's, not p's though port the exhaust a litle and clean up the intakes, w/ a valve job you might have $400 in it, plus $300 for the heads. my buddy went 11.80 on a set of heads like that, w/ a 125 shot and box stock...

To buy or build my AOD

ok now, a good converter is $600, apparently not much destroyed in yours...cuz my hard parts alone were gonna be $800....so i got the low gear set from motorsport for $500 which covered all those and made it better to boot. so even at that...$1100 compared to a warrantied lentech...

    tranny shift question

4.10's are great, but won't cahnge the shift ponit problem. it's actually probably working fine, they shift too low, manual valve body is the ultimate fix, but a shift kit will help alot shift kit will totally fix the 1-2 shift the 2-3 shift will still be low like around 4k on wot
