    Oil Pan Gasket

    I figured lol, how high do u have to take the 302 to get it off? what all has to be unbolted off these engines to jack them up, im guessing motormounts, headers, maybe trans depending on how high it needs to go, and maybe a few wires what am i missing? its kind of hard for me to think about...

    How do you spot a replaced engine?

    Man do a compression check, check for leaks, see if it smokes or makes any funny noises, if all of that looks good its probably a good motor, but u are always taking risks when u buy a used car

    What is the process for changing the oil pan gasket on a 302? I have never worked on a ford motor and dont know whats different than my oldsmobiles

    How difficult is it to do this job?

    Im not sure on mustangs, but the last tranny we dropped was on a 75 cutlass, its not all that complicated just remember where everything goes and keep up with your bolts, Some of the bolts are going to be a pain in the ass to get to though man

    Would it be better to get some work done to the stock heads or get a better set? I really cant see myself spending over 1k right now for a set of aftermarket heads

    simple question

    get up under the car remove the drain plug, let all the oil drain out then replace drain plug, the remove oil filter, smear a little bit of the old oil around the seal on the new oil filter and screw it back on, then get back out from under the car and fill the motor up with oil

    302 .30 over, 24# injectors, MAF conversion, 65mm throttle body, Cold Air intake in fender, Shorty headers, MSD 6AL, i just got the car, that is what i know about, no clue what pistons or cam is in the motor now, or what kind of head work was done either when it was rebuilt

    I'm gonna save up and swap the upper and lower intake, and get a good cam i hope that will give me some better power numbers, bad part is then it will put more stress on the tranny that already cant handle the motor, from what im looking up its going to cost me a lot to get a tranny to handle...

    Actually i just looked back over all the paperwork i have on the car, 247 HP @ 4k RPM 345 TQ @3500 RPM, car really doesn't make good power over 5k RPMs i think it needs a bigger cam

    It seems like its coming from the trans, what options do i have for a better trans that wont kill my pockets? Could i get that one rebuilt by a local shop or would it be better to buy a stronger trans from somewhere?

    Well the guy i bought my car from had a dyno sheet and the 302 is making about 360 lbs of TQ, have receipts saying the car has a ford motorsports T-5, i looked them up and they are rated at 330 TQ will that trans live behind that motor? The reason i ask is because it makes a wining noise...

    There aren't any hoses ran to the heater core i dont know if its bad or not for sure, but i dont really want water in my car so im not going to hook the lines to it
