    Manual Rack?

I'm looking at getting a manual R&P setup but I have no idea what the driveability is like and the car is for my wife. Could any of you that have that set up offer some feedback. I would like to think it's a far cry from the early manual sterring setups of the 60's and more along the lines of a...

    Trunk Ideas Wanted

That looks awesome! What holds up the panels? did you weld some backing tabs in or? I will be putting dynamat or similar product on the floors and inside doors. It isn't going to be bumping something fierce, I'm building the car for my wife and she's not a rapper nor are we young

66 Paint Color Question (dark Candy Apple Red?)

The Dupont code T is that dark red you show in your first pic, at least it was before everything went waterborne or low VOC.

Thanks, I like the idea of building a box to fit that odd shaped space at the back

    Trunk Ideas Wanted

I have a 65 vert restomod project and was looking for ideas on how you all did your trunks for a more custom look, want an amp and sub in there but not anything totally outrageous, jut a nice clean look. The outside of the car is red (or will be I should say) as is the engine bay, interior is...

Engine Bay painted, thanks ZK and all

Thanks guys. To me a painted engine bay looks so much nicer, even if it may not be as practical as it will show dirt and grease easier. The color is a bit of a custom mix, I bought the Ford candy apple red but I found it a bit on the dark side, bordering on burgandy so I mixed close to a quart...

Engine Bay painted, thanks ZK and all

I posted a thread a while back about how to physically paint an engine bay, being somewhat vertically challenged I painted the bottom 3/4 laying on a creeper. Thanks to all that gave suggestions, and especially Zookeeper for showing his color transition points. I wanted the bay body color but...

What oil to use 68 rebuilt 289?

I just rebuilt the 425 in my Riv and I'm using the Brad Penn oil specifically for flat tappet cam motors. 1500 ppm zinc I believe.

    Seam sealer in engine bay?

Yup, I know that trick from painting. I have a bit of sanding left to do, then I'll do the seams, shoot the sealer and paint. It will be nice to move on from the engine bay, been stuck in there too long.

    Seam sealer in engine bay?

That's a really good idea, thanks

    Seam sealer in engine bay?

I expect it to look cleaner as well, particularly the front as I mentioned. The inners are spot welded to the front and over time gets quite fatigued so it's not a nice clean line, the firewall is much better. I've brushed on seam sealer before in areas you don't see and it's certainly not a...

    Seam sealer in engine bay?

The front inner to rad support especially looks like a big gap so I figured it might actually look better if I sealed it. It isn't concourse so I'm not worried about that. I have a caulking tube of it already so I'll lay a bead in there for sure. The firewall to inner is a bit more awkward so...

    Seam sealer in engine bay?

Did you guys use any seam sealer in the engine bay, firewall and rad support seams? I don't recall any being in there when I cleaned it all up and now that it's ready for paint it looks like it's begging for it.

65 restomod shock tower brace modification?

Thanks guys, I don't know why I didn't think of it sooner, just occured to me the other day that they weren't relevant anymore and would be an eyesore. Getting them off shouldn't be too hellish, done a lot worse. Cheers

65 restomod shock tower brace modification?

For those of you that have gone the restomod route and an aftermarket shock tower brace did you cut off the old support from the shock tower? The new aluminum brace attaches to the top of the shock tower not the bracket or whatever you wish to call it, that sticks out. I think it will look goofy...

How do you "physically" paint an engine bay?

Thanks for all the pics and explanations, I really like it. I've been really struggling with where to trasition the two colors and I think the way you did yours is the ticket. It looks like you pretty much snapped a line all the way around where the top of the subframe is and anything under it...

How do you "physically" paint an engine bay?

Now you've got me thinking. I was going to do kind of the inverse of what you did, paint the tops and sides of the subframe body color and the bottom satin black but in your picture the transition looks very natural, I like it. When you say front crossmember do you mean the two 45 degree...

How do you "physically" paint an engine bay?

You posted at the same time as I just did. So you went with black on the trans tunneléfirewall as it breaks back from the vertical part, if I am reading this correctly. I have been wrestling with where to transition from body color to the satin black I am also using under the car.
