    Removing lower control arm

Well no luck so far, sprayed it with penetrating oil last night, heated it up and put the impact gun on it, didn't budge. My impact gun isn't much to rave about so this may be the excuse I need to get a good one :D

    Removing lower control arm

Not sure what the odds of that are but certainly a distrubing thought, I'll have to take that into consideration. Thanks

    Removing lower control arm

Thanks GT I'll try the impact gun, I did have a breaker bar on it and figured it was going to snap the bolt if I went any further and yeah, a big can of worms. I like the idea of reversing the bolt, I was thinking that was the way it should have come in the first place. Thanks Gene, good...

    Removing lower control arm

Just pulling the suspension off the 65 and hit a snag at the lower control arm. The crossmember is in the way of the bolt coming out so needless to say I have to remove it. I assume there's a welded nut in the boxed frame to remove it but I'm sure I'm on the edge of shearing the bolt off with...

No big deal, it was only $15 out of a $1000 order. But thanks for the thought

    front springs

I heard many good things about him on this site and went to him because of that. I was very impressed with him too :nice:

    front springs

I haven't done it yet but I ordered the template as well from John so it was taken into consideration. The car isn't going to be raced so the real goal is to make it handle better without giving up too much ride quality. Also to drop the stance a bit, so rear mid-eyes and 1" lower springs in...

    front springs

Yeah me too but there's a long way to go. I'm about 3/4 done with the sheet metal repairs, still a lot of final bodywork after that and the car is totally gutted so lots of assembly as well.

    front springs

Thanks for the tire info, sounds like the 235 rear, 225 front is the best bet. I have a lowered truck that does the rub here and there if it's overloaded or hits a dip in the road. It bugs me plenty so I don't want to go there again.

    front springs

I talked to John at OTR and for my purposes he recommended the GT 1" drop springs. Tire size will be an issue I need to deal with later on. What did you settle on? I was thinking 235/45 on the back and 225/45 on the front but I wouldn't mind bigger if they fit, are the 245/45's ok on the rear?

    springs and uppercontrol arm shaft

I asked the same question about the spring removal a while back, here's a link to the thread. I started with the internal finger type and ended up using the external type but it was sketchy as hell so I bought the type GT2+2 showed. I haven't used it yet, I'm in a full blown restoration so I...

    front springs

I'm getting closer to sorting out the new suspension for my 65. I'm wanting to go with 1" lowering springs in the front, mid eyes in the rear. Looking at the springs, there's 1" GT and 1" 560lb also progressive rate ones but I don't know if they are lower? This is all from Opentracker if that...

How difficult to replace inner fender apron?

From my experience the biggest hurdle is the fit of the re-pop piece. Other than that it's just the pain of drilling out the spot welds, cursing at the mess you just unconvered and getting on with it. Mine wsn't bad enought to replace but the top of both front and back aprons were a bit of a...

    windshield trim studs?

It was a long time ago that I took the trim off and it'll be a fair while before I put it back on so I'm sure I'll be asking more about the process later. When you say screwing the clip on, do you mean the clip can't be installed after the screw is in place? If so then I guess I need to have the...

    65 Restomod engine bay question

The export brace bolts to the large, "side to side" flange, I'm not looking at cutting that out, I should have been more clear. In front of the 1" or so flange is an 1/8 - 1/4" gutter and a protrudding 1" x 6" or so flange that sticks out from the gutter part. What I was going to do is weld...
