    if you don't drive it in the winter take out the thermostat and see that that changes anything. If the thermostat is sticking that could be causing alot of your issues.

    clapping type sound when turning?

    sadly enough I can relate to this problem the funny thing was in my case I snapped the passenger side mount for the front sway bar and the bushing fell out so it would slap when turning. Kinda weird took me a while to find it but yeah thats what it was on mine.

    I agree sounds like a throw out bearing. But where does the sound seem the loudest? under the car? under the hood? It could also be the transmition mount is wearing out and putting stress on the u-joints.
