    Our 02 Explorer has never needed this in 220,000 miles, and I can't imagine why one would need it at 30k. I change fuel filters every 100 thou or so.

    Pulling the engine

    Yep, one bolt in the accessory mounting holes on the end of the heads, one front and one in the rear. Or one in each of the four corners if you have an engine tilter.

    Oil, water, and volts would be my choices. My 82 track toy has all the stock gages, they work, I verifed with other gages over the years. I have a shift lite. Wideband would be nice. For a drag car, you are not going to need gages except for the staging lanes, (temp), and return road.

    Yep, good choice. The 80 is probably very light, may have the smallest brakes ever on a fox, alum bumpers, etc. My 82 is made out of 79, 80 and 82 parts. If it is a straight six you will need to change the k member.
