My 92 vert for sale, see classifieds

Hi guys, I have had a great time in the 2.3 forum, but it looks like I'll be buying a 2001 vert :D . Please check my classified ad. My 1992 convertible would be perfect for a 2.3T or 5.0 swap since it has the 5 speed. Hope to find a good loving home for this car, and I thought of you guys...

    A/C compressor, anyone??

I'm in Ohio and it's getting hot - too hot for top down in the mid-day sun, anyway. But if you're A/C system is still good (needs only charge), wouldn't you get more for the car if the A/C system is intact?? It's up to you, I was just expecting somone with a good surplus compressor..... I'm...

    A/C compressor, anyone??

I browsed the classifieds and did not find anything, so I hope no one minds me asking... I am looking for a A/C compressor with clutch & pulley for my 'vert (see sig). Good used condition, if anybody has one left over from a 2.3T conversion or whatever. I'm scanning E-Bay daily also. Apologies...

If we're running 4s why do we want to sound like V8s?

I agree with Pro-Hawk, how many of us have already paid for a 5.0 and don't have one? Mr. Woodster makes some very good points about the downsides of the convertible. And I also agree with Deadhead23, in that if you have the sound, you oughta have the power also. My thinking is that the 2.3...

If we're running 4s why do we want to sound like V8s?

I have noticed that the 4 cyl hatch and notch drivers seem to be more likely to mod their cars a lot further than the 'vert drivers. I'm happy with a docile convertible. Now If I had a hatchback, for example, I would definitely want more performance and attitude from my 'Stang. The large...

84 LX 3.8 not wanting to downshift...

You're saying the automatic tranny won't downshift when needed unless you absolutely floor the gas pedal?? Have you checked the tranny fluid, pull the dipstick and see if it looks brown or smells burnt. It may need flushed and re-filled with new fluid (and filter changed), that has worked...

Intake mod for the mechanically challenged

GOOD GRIEF!! And I thought all I did was inspire :rlaugh: among my fellow stangnet'ers. Thanks, whiskerz, for the validation.

    Fuse box question

I knew I could count on you, Lex. :hail2: I'll push it back to a more horizontal state and be done with it. Someone must have bent it down so it would be easier to get to. I'd hate to catch the corner of that thing on my leg, especially while wearing shorts. :(

Ok lets talk mileage . who is getting it ?

My 'vert has 151000 miles and still gets 28 MPG, so I don't think the mileage on your odo is an issue. The A4LD should only cut you back about 1-2 MPG, at the most. Get a tuneup, mod your intake and use a K&N. I have seen older threads concerning some real bad 2.3 MPG issues, you might want to...

    Fuse box question

I'm still confused, but that's nothing new  The fuses are behind the black pull-off cover. Am I missing some other piece that covers all this up?? My other cars all have a removable panel built right into the lower dash. This thing just seems to.... hang there, below the dash, all too...

    Fuse box question

Please take a look at the picture of my fuse panel and let me know if this is correct. It is presently at about a 45 degree angle, but the metal plate does not show any creases or other evidence of being bent. It will move a little bit (maybe 5 to 10 degrees) fore and aft if you push it. It's...

What should I gap my plugs to?

If you have the DP 2.3L, the two middle plugs on the passenger side are likely the easiest to get out. Trust me, you'll want those boot pliers for the hard to reach plugs on the drivers side. I didn't have boot pliers, and the boots came apart when I pulled, and....... :bang: :bang: :bang...

What should I gap my plugs to?

Dang, Pro-Hawk that's some good advice :nice: too bad I didn't ask you before I changed plugs last month :( oh well at least I got to invent some new swear words, it was all good until the last two rear plugs on the drivers side :bang:

Ok lets talk mileage . who is getting it ?

240,000 miles from one set of stock (non-platinum) plugs has gotta be some kind of record

Ok lets talk mileage . who is getting it ?

I'm gonna get crucified here for not using Motorcraft parts. I used Autolite platinum plugs (so I don't have to change them again for a long time) and generic plug wires. My 'vert is not a racer, it's for cruuuuising.

Ok lets talk mileage . who is getting it ?

Just changed plugs & wires, now getting a steady 28 MPG. The tuneup added 2 MPG. Do you have a K&N air filter, that will help also.

    Fuel Pump Issue

Crap, my fuel pump has been singin' me a song for about 4000 miles now. Doesn't sound like a sick cat, more like a loud constant whine. The local Ford dealer swears it's normal, but I have had my doubts. Sorry I can't help you StangGrrLy, I'm just curious if your pump (or anyone else's for that...

    CAI question

No offense taken here. I didn't choose the inner fender well CAI myself either. I'm pretty much on the same path as you. I installed a K&N, removed the section between the airbox and intake http://forums.stangnet.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=22879 , and have been contemplating changes forward...
