    Is the "starter solenoid" the thing on the fender, near the battery? The positive battery cable, and a bunch of other wires, are connected to the rear post, and a single cable (negative battery cable?) are connected to the forward post. I just want to make sure I was checking the right thing.

    I disconnected both battery cables, and measured the resistance across the 2 posts on the starter relay (is that the starter solenoid?). I measured a resistance of 0.1 ohms. So I guess I have indeed welded the solenoid contacts together. Or, maybe I've welded something else together...

    I'm no expert, but I'd say the following gauges, in order of importance: 1. Wideband A/F 2. Fuel pressure 3. boost/vacuum The 3rd gauge would read vacuum and boost, so it would go from around -25 inches of vacuum up to around 20 psi of boost. My new Stang doesn't have a supercharger...

    Cool, thanks for your help. It may be difficult to find an adapter, though, because it looks like the antenna end is narrower than the base end. That gives me an idea, though. Maybe I'll go to Pep Boys and see if they have any antenna kits with adapters, or just the adapters sold separately.

    I'm more comfortable modifying the antenna. If I screw up the antenna, then it's no big deal. But if I screw up the base, then it would be a pain to fix.

    Maybe I'll dremel off the male end from the antenna, then drill a hole in the end of the antenna, and then tap the end of the antenna, to make it female. That seems like a lot of work, but maybe less work than finding and installing a stock base.

    The stock antenna (I guess it's stock, but maybe not) is already short, about 14 inches long. The problem is, it's bent really badly, and it's fat, black, plastic coated, and I'd much rather have a thin, metallic one.
