    Info on swapping a compete exploror engine!

    I think like Hairycanary touched on about ignition, it has a different firing order than the GT's. If Im not mistaken, in order to change that, you would have to change the cam. Although, you could run the Explorer firing order. I am also about 90% sure the oil pan is completely different...

    Just my two cents. I also heard that they would not need to be shimmed. I did the FRPP gears, no shims. Went right in. Just used the shims that were in there already.

    While we are on the subject, I have been looking at 98 Cobra's. Did they come stock with the Cobra in the grill? Seems like every one I see has one.

    There is a high current fuse in the box under the hood. 30 amp I believe.

    Fuel filter you can get at Wal-Mart. As for the gasket, I did my 86, and 95, and never had a problem with the filler neck leaking. But, if you need one, I think you will probably have to get it at the dealer.

    I did try clocking it. Nothing seemed to work. Everything was good and adjusted. Fuel pressure was good. I dunno. The only thing I can think of now would be to upgrade the injectors. Oh well. I'll probably be selling it soon. I'll be in the market for an Atlantic Blue 98 Cobra convertible.
