    Stripped out engine bay

Let me say from experience that its a bitch to go back to metal. All the nooks and crannies make it a lot of work. BUT it is soo worth it to be finished with. Just a bit of advice or experience. I went with an exterior gloss black instead of the factory finish. It makes it SOOOOO much...

Can I put 31 spline axles in an 8"?

I might be off with this, but I kinda got this idea from when I was doing research on upbuilding my 9inch open rear to a traction loc with new axles. Someone correct me if I am wrong here, but orginally they were doing those big 31 spline axles because the smaller 28 spline axles were weaker...

    5.0l swap problem!!(pics)

That I cannot tell you. I went with a classic style v belt setup. I had to get a new timing chain set as the old eccentric would not clear the cover.

    5.0l swap problem!!(pics)

Yep, use the early timing chain cover with the dipstick provision. There may be some issues with the mech fuel pump lobe not clearing. But thats what it takes. Just plug the old hole.

    Is this ok?

Check your local auto parts store. You can get rebuild kits that have all those springs and stuff in them for really cheap. I think I last got one for my rears that was only like $12 for both sides.

New rims and tires today....will 265/50-15s fit?

265/65-16=29.6" 265/50-15=25.4" Now that being said, I am not so sure about the rears being too big to look right. I am looking at the fronts and thinking they may need to be bigger. No rubbing so far, but i have not driven them much. I am still debating going back and swapping some stuff...

    Removing overspray from tires...

so are we talking on the rubber or on the rim?

    Removing overspray from tires...

000 or finer steel wool. Corser stuff and the brillo pads can scratch. Choke/carb cleaner will not hurt the rims either. Brake fluid is pretty hard to keep contained.

    Price of going faster!

You are seriously just trying to add to the cost by adding it up. After realizing what you have done all you will do is end up on antidepressants and in therapy!

    I have a couple questions

That is it right there. The gas companies try to sell you all kinds of BS to spend more money.

    I have a couple questions

I cannot run 87 in my 67 if I am doing hard charging in it. As the cylinders heat up I start getting preignition. But regular driving is fine. 89 octane is usually enough.

How to have sex in the backseat of a 65

I looked because I knew it was stupid and felt like saying something. This site has always been a little more about the restomod side of the hobby. Vintage mustang forums is more of a purist restoration forum. If you dont care about 1/4 mile times or whatnot dont read those posts, but it...

need to make a decision on and engine damn soon

When I was considering rebuilding a 289 for my car the thing that finally helped me make up my mind was that you can spend the money on it, and still have a 35 year old block at the root of it.
