5sp Burnout at the Track Tips!

I can manage the brake and gas with my right foot and clutch with the left if the road/conditions are right. Other times I have to switch pedals. That's with the 2.3L '93 though on 245-50's.

    Chrome Moly vs. Mild Steel

X2 I would go to a local speed shop or a buddies house with some tubular arms and reverse engineer them. Either that or do the stress/strain and bending moment calculations.

    GEAR DRIVE OR CHAIN DRIVE

Gear drives deliver more accuracy but are inherently noisey. Is it better? To some degree, but not really necessary for 99% of the motors people here build. Can you make it quiter? No. The noise you get come from the gear mesh. The only way it would be quiter is if it was a herring...

Got the Stang dyno tuned last nite and....

Nice numbers! What comp. ratio are you running?

    Simple Upgrades?

If he's putting it in a '36 he's going to have a custom air cleaner anyways... Good plugs, wires, and maybe an MSD would be good.

Do these heads look good to you?

I'd be curious about the carbon deposits around the exhaust ports. If it leaked long enough it will have a tendency to burn away at the material. Looks good other than that. You never know though, could have bad valves/seats, guides, who knows...If the price is right though...

    Rusty gas tank

I have used nuts and bolts in motorcycle tanks, but nothing as big as a car fuel tank. If it's that bad, I'd probably try to pick up a good one from a JY or get new. They're not that bad...

what's the point of forged internals in a

No. Unless you're really beating the piss out of it on a daily basis, your stocker will probably hold up forever.

    Rear end setup?

If you keep stock uppers but box them, you'll have better arms, reduce flex/wheel hop, and not do as much(if any) damage to your torque boxes. And it all kind of depends on the use of the car. Street/strip i would get the boxes. If it's just a fun cruiser, then don't worry about it.

Some A-hole hit me last night...

Phone records are traceable though, so no dice on that. That would be a good one though.

Some A-hole hit me last night...

Superb! Well I would never do something like that :bs: , but since I've put this rant on Turboford and Stangnet it's very possible that random people across the country could happen to slip subscription in the mail and sign him up for calling lists and magazines. But as I said, I would...

Some A-hole hit me last night...

It went back down to two lane right before the said ramp right before the bridge. The far right lane exits.

    5 lug rear disc question

Probably need SN-95 cables if you don't have them. I would search around, since it's about the most common conversion.

    5 lug rear disc question

If it's a RWD, you can do some flipping of the brackets to use them on a stock rear, but you lose your e-brake. Do some searching on the net and you'll find answers.

Some A-hole hit me last night...

There's no witness other than myself and it really didn't hurt the car to bad. It needs repainted anyways, but it's the fact that the guy was a serious douche bag and got away with it. Total BS...I would encourage everybody to find any and all magazine subscriptions with the "bill me later"...

Some A-hole hit me last night...

So I'm on my way home last night and some a-hole has a chip on his shoulder...Here's the order of events... I'm in the middle lane, he's in the right lane. He decides he wants over, so he comes over with less than a car between us. Fine, whatever, I hit the right lane and keep scooting. He...

Stupid carrier pin locking bolt!! How do I get it out??

I would beat on the end opposite the bolt so you don't run the change of distorting the bolt hole as much.

Stupid carrier pin locking bolt!! How do I get it out??

I tried the hammer method when it happened to me and couldn't get it to go. I ended up torching the end of the cross pin off and beating it out.

    what should i do?

Go with the GT-40P's. They flow more out of the box. If you add some porting, you're that much ahead. If you're going with a street motor, shoot for high 9's to 10.5:1 compression. A boost in compression will net some good power. if you're planning on a blower later though, leave it around...

    Stud or Pedestal Heads/1.6 or 1.7 RR's

Get studs. Pedestal mounts are inherently weak and are more of a hassle to adjust. Stud mounts are strong and easy to adjust. 1.6 rockers are basically stock. 1.7's will give you more lift. Alot of people recommend keeping the stock cam and using 1.7's for mild upgrades such as intake and...
