Opinions on a good fuel pump.

I just got done checking a few things. First-the filter is on correctly so scratch that. Second- I had my wife watch my FP guage while I cycled the key again, and this time I did it about 10 time, and this time it did build pressure to between 40 and 50 psi. Then slowly dropped off so...

Opinions on a good fuel pump.

Here's a really silly question, but one I have to ask. If my fuel filter was on backwards could that cause my problem. The reason I ask is when I replaced it about 2 years ago I got pre occupied while changing it, and guessed when I put the new one back on. Could someone tell me which side of...

Opinions on a good fuel pump.

Hissin, I was running my problem by a friends mechanic today, and he made a few suggestions some of which are right along with what you are saying. He doesn't think it is the fuel pump, but rather maybe the fuel pump relay or eec relay. He mentioned the FPR, unti I told him that it holds...

Opinions on a good fuel pump.

Yes sir I did try cycling the key several times, and it did not build pressure. I will ground the FP terminal on the self test connector today for 20 seconds to see if pressure builds. If none builds, what does part do you think that points to as being that culprit so I can get the new part...

Opinions on a good fuel pump.

Thanks Hissin for the reply. Now my question is how do I narrow down which of those possible problems you mentioned could in fact be the problem. I'm looking at as my fuel pressure guage does not show pressure when I turn the key to on. Wouldn't that point to the pump? Sorry if that sounds...

    Cranks too long when hot??

Thanks for the reply... I was talking to a car guy hear at work, and he said it sounded like a fuel pump issue to him also. That's a bummer as it's a 1 year old BBK 255lph pump. Is there a test I can do to prove that the pump is bad before I go dropping the tank, or is the fact that I get...

    Cranks too long when hot??

Well I reset the codes and set my SCT chip to the stock setting program, and rescanned for codes. This time I got an 11 system pass with the key on engine off. So it seems that maybe the chip program was causing the code 15. I'm going to check the ECT voltage reading tomorrow. I need to...

    Cranks too long when hot??

I pulled the codes and heres what I got. With the key on engine running I got code 11 system pass. With key on engine off I got code 15 Failure in Electronic Control Assembly ECA problems with keep alive memory. Can this be caused by the SCT chip and tune, or is the a problem with my...

    Cranks too long when hot??

I'm pretty sure the pump is priming. When I turn the key to run I hear the pump. I will try cycling the key a few times today and see if it builds pressure at the guage. Could my guage be faulty? I'll let you know. Thanks again.

    Cranks too long when hot??

Just so that I'm sure of the ECT, where exactly is it located? Is it on the metal coolant tubes? Just want to make sure we are talking about the same part. I'm still unsure as to why I'm not building pressure with the key in the run position. Thanks for your continued input Hissin.. Joe

    Cranks too long when hot??

Thanks Hissin. So I should see a reading on my fuel pressure guage if I turn the key to on for 3-5 seconds? I don't, it stays at zero until it starts. I haven't pulled the codes in the past few months, but I will tomorrow after I drive it around for a while. I replaced the ect last...

    Cranks too long when hot??

I've got a problem that got me stumped. When I start the car up in the morning in cranks for about 2 seconds and starts right up. When I drive it around and it gets up to temperature 180*, and I come to a stop, turn it off, let it sit for a few minutes. Then try to start it again most of the...

Running at 185* with 160 thermostat?

Alright guys thanks I think you have convinced me. I'll leave well enough alone, and consider 180 my operating temperature. Thanks for putting this old guys mind at ease. Well maybe not too old....

Running at 185* with 160 thermostat?

180 is a good temp, I agree. I would just prefer to run a little cooler, and I was concerned why the operating temp didn't change after I changed thermostats. I had a 160* stat in this car with the stock motor, and it ran great at 160, and my previous mustang did the same. I guess I just got...

Running at 185* with 160 thermostat?

Here's a question I want to throw out there and see what you guys think, and this may be way off, but I'm just brain storming. What if the three row radiator is too thick for the fan to draw enough air through to cool the coolant in it. What if I were to try a thinner two row radiator. Would...

Running at 185* with 160 thermostat?

Do you think it could be the pulleys? The water pump pulley is an overdrive not underdrive pulley, but I know what you are saying the numbers aren't too bad. It's just strange that I change the stat, and the temp doesn't change. It's got to be something causing it. Thanks.

Running at 185* with 160 thermostat?

Need a little help guys. It's about 100* here today in MD, and I just installed a 160 Mr. Gasket thermostat. I had a 180 in, and it ran around 180-185 all day so I thought I'd try a 160. I like things to run a little cooler, but even with the 160 in it the temp still goes to 180-185. When...
