    modified long tubes?

Nice! I like that idea. 3 inch V-bands are common on Diesel exhaust so they wouldn't be hard to sorce. Do you stay 3" all the way? or do you reduce with 3.0 to 2.5? What about where the mid pipe joins the cat back pipes, what do you do there?

    modified long tubes?

I have to ask if anyone with long tube headers has cut off the cone/inverted flare connection to opt for a slip on or in connection from header collector to mid pipe? This seems logical because the inverted cone is reduced to 2.25"outlet from a 3" collector and 2.25 seems to be restrictive in...

    408W head opinion...plz help

There's nothing wrong with Windsor sr. heads as long as you go in and clean them up a little. They respond very well to a bowl blend and some valve guide boss tapering, mine picked up 20 cfm+ @ almost every lift including a good valve job. Now 277 cfm at .600

    Blown head gasket symptoms

Sometimes even a compression test won't tell you anything unless the engine is expanded to operating temp. Try using a radiator leak testing gauge, the type you pump up to detect a coolant leak (stant etc.) just put it on your radiator without pumping it up and start and run your engine for a 5...

5.0 or 5.8? bang for buck!

Then just build a 347 and be done with it if 400 engine HP is your goal. P.S., there is NO "cheapest route". Whatever you do will cost more than you anticipated and there are many hidden costs. If you're real patient/persistent/diligent you can buy many items N.O.S, or used etc.. for example, I...

5.0 or 5.8? bang for buck!

5.0 block: 131 lbs. 351w F4TE roller block:154lbs C90E 351w less. 5.0 crankshaft: 37-47 lbs. Windsor crank: 47-57 depending on material and mfg. The connecting rods for a Windsor 100 gms. or less each additional. The lower intake (aluminum) for a Windsor 5 lbs. extra max. The 347 vs 408: 50-60...

    Canton oilpan ???

22mm x 1.5mm drain plug ($4 from most parts stores) is how I fixed my leaky level sensor, clean all the surfaces, apply thread sealer/RTV to the threads, tape the switch wire to the loom so it doesn't ground out, put the oil back in the motor and you're done...problem solved. Nice...

Fox Cast Valve Covers with Vortech

I also use Fox body GT valve covers and when I was assembling everything I realized they don't fit because of the oil fill tube interfered with the intake pipe. So, I got everything out of the way, heated the tube with a mapp gas tourch, stuck a pipe inside the tube and while it was glowing red...

    Problems--Help Please

I had bucking real bad at low speeds in any gear except first, changed rear end gear from 3.73 to 4.10 and now the bucking is only noticible in 5th gear at low, low speed, I can live with it, the gear change only masked the problem. I had mentioned the bucking to someone at DirtyDirty racing and...

How are you makng your 94/95 331 stroker run right

Don't mean to get off your problem here, but, when it ran well what kind of rwhp did it make with that X303 cam? I have one and I have a 331 with a small comp cam I'd like to swap in the X303.

BAHHHH Set back... Head bolt issue

Locktite liquid thread sealer #30534? comes in a 4 oz. bottle with applicator brush, this is what I have used for years without any failures as long as every thing is clean and oil free. Outer headbolts only on sbf's and every headbolt on Chevy's. You'll need to lower the level of coolant a lot...

    Mystery Machine's rebuild thread

Fox body valve covers on a `94-`95 GT? I did the same thing but found out the oil filler tube was interfering with the cold air pipe so I heated it up and stuck a piece pipe in it and bent it out of the way, ruined the powder coat paint, oh well.

White Cobra, excellent response, I have eq short length Mac's now and they have burnt a wire or 2, I have a used set of BBK 1519 long tubes with an egr outlet that I picked up cheap off CL because they were listed for a `95 GT or Cobra and I just never see them for my `94, and if I was ever...

Nice piece on the weight reduction ideas and thanks for the Jeep seat idea. You could get even more weight out by getting creative in the trunk area, sound deadener, spare and tools, carpet, cardboard, deck speakers, rear seat belt reels and receivers, plastic gas tank cover(if you dare) In...
