So today I tore down my old N/A block.. interesting!

Yeah.. I was hoping the block would be good and not have to be bored, but when I saw that, I just decided to chuck it. I wanted a spare block to slowly build into my next turbo block. The odometer had about 74K on it when that engine was pulled. I don't know if it's just 74 or 174. The previous...

So today I tore down my old N/A block.. interesting!

Today I finally got around to tearing apart my old N/A block. I had to determine if i was good enough to keep, or take it to the recycler. Well, it didn't take me long to decide it was not worth keeping around. Hehe.. it ain't the prettiest thing.. http://www.binaryweb.com/88lx/temp/ (Today I...

    fun weekend of racing

Sweet.. I really wish the autox season wasn't over! I missed about all the races from being gone workin on the bike tours. I think there might be 1 coming up in a week or two, but thats about it until next March or April. When I had my real bad spin, I was out of control for over 60 feet. I...

    fun weekend of racing

Hey man.. I've noticed the snap oversteer on quick cornering transition in autox on my car as well. The solution that I've found to solve it on a budget is to change my driving style. If I slow down a bit more before the turn, then doesn't snap out from under me, and then I can also accelerate...

    1989 2.3 NA buildup...need some suggestions

I think it depends on what tools you have and how much knowlege you have. If you are looking for N/A power, most of it is hidden in the head. Pull that head off and expect to put about 30 to 40 hours into it with the grinder. Port the crap out of it. Then take it to a machine shop and mill a lot...

    What type of pistons?

I think you're going to find 215's on the inadequate side... I have 255/45/17s with a freshly rebuilt and very tight limited slip, and there's been several times that I could have used more traction. Go as big as you can fit on your rim! How wide is the rim?

    What type of pistons?

Well, first off, it's going to be hard to get it done by the end of October and still do a nice job, get a big FMIC plumbed up, all the little bugs worked out, etc. It's a lot of work, or at least it was for me. If you get it in good running condition and all the bugs worked out, you shoul dbe...

    What type of pistons?

The TurboCoupes have a VAM, not a MAF.

    What type of pistons?

If you are building this block up for a turbo engine, don't bore it out unless you absolutely have to. The extra 2 or 3 ci that you will gain from boring it will not make much difference at all. Reason I say all this is that the cylinder wall thickness is not much, and then you remove .040 of it...

Heres my first 4 banger(pics inside)

If you need some persuasion/motivation to go the 2.3 turbo route, check out some videos of my car at http://www.binaryweb.com/88lx/video/

    Is $1500 too much?

I would suggest not spending time or money putting an exhaust on it before you do a turbo swap. You'll more than likely have to do it all over again. Heck, I waited until I swapped, and I've still redone my whole exhaust system 3 times (party from poor initial planning, and also from making...

hello, i am curious and want to see all of your motors N/A or not

Cool, didn't know that! I don't know.. I have so much to do, that by the time I'm finished with my stuff, I'll only have 2 hours or so to see stuff. It's hot here, and I've been outside all day, so I doubt I'm going to walk around much/any lol Anyway, you're not missing my Stang.. Its parked at...

hello, i am curious and want to see all of your motors N/A or not

Check out mine at www.binaryweb.com/88lx/ The turbo I have on there right now is a bit too small, but despite that, it put down 215rwhp and 325rwTQ on a Mustang dyno. I haven't been posting much here recently because I'm on the road working as a mechanic on a cross-country bicycle trip. At...

    Heater Core

Since I talked to you earlier this afternoon, I thought of one more thing.. Go to an auto parts store and rent a coolant system pressure tester. That'll make it a lot easier to positively locate the leak. In my IE Favorites, I found 2 websites that might be helpful to you...

    Here's my dyno results with the HX30w @ 22psi

Thanks.. I agree, there's more left in there, but at the moment I can't put a finger on it. We're getting into a pretty good discussion on volumetric efficiency in my thread on Turboford. I finally got my hands on the compressor map for my compressor, and I'm basically off the graph!! Nevermind...

    Here's my dyno results with the HX30w @ 22psi

Just got back from the dyno a little bit ago. It was a Mustang brand dyno, so the numbers might be a bit low. They sound low to me for what all I'm running. All runs were at 22psi and 50psi base fuel pressure. Run 1 - 212 rwhp @ 4100 / 319 ft/tq @ 3300 - Nice flat HP curve; cam retarded 2...

Intake mod for the mechanically challenged

Furvel, keep in mind you'll have to keep the MAF in there, so it won't be quite as clean as ka0tyk's.

    Biggest (Widest) Tires on Fox

A 60's series sidewall? No wonder it flexed! What were you expecting? Go with something wider and a shorter sidewall instead of smaller.

    question about my 2.3L mustang

You need to address problems the order that they come.. the stock intake tube is restriction. Ford did this intentionally to keep the intake noise down. So... yank that crap out and replace it with PVC. You're going to have to do a LOT of mods to see any gains at all from a 65mm throttle body...
