    Who knows about rod/piston/crank specs?

well this is getting more interesting than I ever imagined. Now I'm learning about Quench distance? (distance from piston top to head deck surface), and it looks like those pistons will work, with them coming out of the hole .005". Some guys with LS1s were running .007 out or even up to .012...

    Who knows about rod/piston/crank specs?

that guy who's selling the pistons says he bought them for use in a 69 block with a 4" stroke and 6.2" rod combo, but the CH is 1.285? I have the full specs on them, but that number is off from your reccomended 1.175" CH?

    Who knows about rod/piston/crank specs?

one more thing, so the CH of the piston, where do i measure that at? is that a number i can go to a search for that required spec for what I need, with other options such as CR varying? just checking. Nevermind, i figured that out. Promlem is now I'm thinking that the 6.2" rods i have...

    Who knows about rod/piston/crank specs?

Yeah, i was looking at Scat's P/N lists with their kits and saw the rod length I already have in there a couple times. Now I'll go back with some more serious intel as to what I'm looking for and know what to keep a look out for! And you bet I'll be posting how it all ended up~! I haven't...

    Who knows about rod/piston/crank specs?

wow man! how did you figure all that up? doing the math or referrring to a reference? thanks! I'll check around for some specific piston numbers now (P/N and CH numbers)

    Who knows about rod/piston/crank specs?

well my eagle H beam rods are marked 6200BS, so I think they're 6.2" ... so thanks for the calculations NikwoaC, but i think I'm a bit off from that. then i read on another website about stroking windsors, that a stock crank can be ground somehow and with a .040 over piston be a 377 or with...

    Who knows about rod/piston/crank specs?

Well, as i said, the engine deal was all screwed up. I really got hosed. But this engine was supposed to be a 69 block 383W stroker, but it turned out that the block was no good, so i dove into tearing it apart and found out all this other stuff... but i was talking about turning them down...

    Who knows about rod/piston/crank specs?

So I had this used engine deal go wrong, and I came out of it with just a good set of eagle rods and a 70 351W block. Now the Ross XL400 pistons were worn too much the shop says, and they recommended going with a cheaper piston anyways to replace it, since I'm not running a million HP. But I...

    Engine builders/Machinist, got a cylender surface Q

Some more info, in case you were hanging on the edge of your seat... I've found out so much in breaking this engine apart. At first I though that there were no marks on the pistons that match those scratches, so i thought for a while that these pistons had never been run in this motor...

    Engine builders/Machinist, got a cylender surface Q

whew. you're right. I hadn't slept yesterday and it was a long day. Still not sure where I'm at on the 94 build, but I'm guessing I'll drive my 93 around after some new rear end bushings and exhaust gaskets and think about it. I just don't think I have the time now to finish it (the 94)...

    Engine builders/Machinist, got a cylender surface Q

well I'm just about to quit. It's been a long day. Last night it was finding out that I need the $500 lifters... Today, it's that the block is .060 over and the pistons that are in it, are NOT the pistons that were in it when it blew. Cylinder #2 has scratches from an apparent blown piston...

    Engine builders/Machinist, got a cylender surface Q

or wait, i think i read your responce wrong... so you ARE running a Small base circle cam and of course the dogbone/spider roller lifters?

    Engine builders/Machinist, got a cylender surface Q

Viper, you've sure been alot of help. Thank you! So you're saying that you can use a standard base circle cam with the dogbone/spider setup, you just have to grind into the cylinder side of the valley? I noticed something was wrong when i saw that the dogbones were resting on the...

    Engine builders/Machinist, got a cylender surface Q

AND i just found out that I'll have to either order a set of retro-fit roller lifters, or a small base circle cam. I guess these guys put this together wrong. It's a good thing i checked it out before just running the thing. some fricking people... who puts a standard base circle cam in a...

    Engine builders/Machinist, got a cylender surface Q

honing seems to be the best option. Would i need a new set of rings then? maybe a file fit set? Do you think i can hone this myself? My dad has a hone and has worked in a machine shop for 22 years, and he would of course help me. In any case, I'm taking this to a mustang guy and then...

    Engine builders/Machinist, got a cylender surface Q

yes, I am talking about those lines. They're not really visible in the pic, but that's just due to resolution. As I said, they're JUST deep enough to feel, so I'm thinking they're .0010" or so. I do have access to a machine shop, so I'll micro it tomorrow, and I'm thinking that my only...

just a couple more for good measure. If someone knows a better way to post, please PM me or post it in here. Maybe I'll do a search and try and figure it out.

    Engine builders/Machinist, got a cylender surface Q

So I bought this 69 351W all forged stroker a couple months ago and I'm about to put it together and build it. AND I noticed some lines/scratches along two of the cylinder walls. They're just big enough or deep enough to feel. I'll probably pull those two pistons to check the rings, but my...
