    pulled my trans today. *pics*

That explains it. Sad to see a Z bite the dust, heh. You're on the right track with the Astro upgrades, looks like you need a bit more strength than even the Z can provide.

    T5 reverse spring

I thought that both ways used springs, the older style being a tension spring and the newer being a torsion spring. If you look at your case from the left side, is there a "bolt" (for lack of better word) screwed in just to the bottom right of the reverse switch? If so, that's the torsion spring...

    pulled my trans today. *pics*

well it should be a 98+ unit, I think that Tremec bought the tooling from BW in 97, and I have a 97 unit still marked BW so... that should narrow it down some. I don't know why the tag data translates to a 5.0 unit like mentioned above though, so maybe I got my facts screwed up somewhere...

    T5 reverse spring

I may have one in the garage, depending what style yours is. There are a couple different versions of the return. Do you have a picture of how yours is hooked up inside?

    Can I put a 275/40 17 on a 17X8 rim?

its not a really good idea, it'll stick out about 1.5" on each side of the rim or 3" overhang total. But yes, you can physically mount it.

    Timing?

the lower the timing the hotter the exhaust side of things will get, don't want to burn a valve. you shouldn't have to go that low though, i would look at other areas before timing. If you don't have a wideband on it, try to get one or even put it on a dyno to see what is happening. Datalogging...

Post your pics of Mad Maxed, Rat Rodded, Beaters, Apocalyptic Stangs

here's my project, which i think currently qualifies for this thread. If you're in the Pinellas area you may have seen it around although its been off the road for the past month while I've been locating control arm bushings.

    94/95 t-5 in a 88????

I'll give D&D a call. I was hoping that the 94/95 V6 T5 was compatible internally for donor parts or as a swap using my input shaft since it's the only one I've been able to locate at the scrap yard. Mine is pretty beat up.

    94/95 t-5 in a 88????

Refresh my memory, what's the torque rating of the 94-95 T5? And did they use the same one on the V6 and V8? I was thinking about picking up a 94-95 junkyard T5 to use for donor parts on my 89 rebuild, but I'm wondering if the gear ratios might be different. I wonder if there's a gear tooth...

    94/95 t-5 in a 88????

the input shaft is longer on the 94-95 tranny so it's not a direct swap but if thats all you have access to you can swap the input shaft

    3.73 pinion depth??

If you want a quiet gearset you have to do it right and check the backlash after shimming it with your best guess (old shim to start with is a good idea). Then you use gear marking compound to check the mesh pattern and adjust the carrier and pinion depth to compensate. This is why a gear change...

Help me figure out why my car is so slow

maybe i just need a big rubber band, lol. money is the main problem right now so I've been trying to figure out how I can get the times down with what I have. Slicks are first on the list, and hopefully that plus tweaking the tune some more will get my 60' down which is the main problem area. I...

Help me figure out why my car is so slow

Yeah, its a carb style intake with injector bosses. It's been a real bear to tune off-idle due to the large intake components. I still don't have it perfect. I almost got a set of slicks this weekend but somebody else beat me to them. I know the tires are a big factor but they are hooking pretty...

Help me figure out why my car is so slow

Seeing everybodys times makes me wonder why my car runs so slow... maybe somebody can make a suggestion or two. Here are my specs: 89 lx hatch with freshly built 302, forged flat-top probe pistons, gt40p heads, x303 cam, high-volume oil pump, msd ignition (pro-billet dist, digital 6+, digital...

Fuel mixing with oil and plugs soaked with fuel....causing the car not to start, help!

you could pull the rails out of the manifold with the injectors still clipped in and run the fuel pump (jumper it to power) while watching the injectors to see if they leak. you should put a T fitting in your fuel line somwhere so you can check your fuel pressure and adjust it where it needs to be.

    Nos in a 10.5:1 comp. 306

yeah, they aren't o-ringed. i'm not too worried about something happening to this motor, since it's basically stock other than the pistons and a ford x-cam. it would be an inconvenience since it's a daily driver but if it goes i'll be putting in something bigger instead of rebuilding it. i have...

    quad shock?

yeah the extra shocks are actually there to dampen the axle (prevent wheel hop) so that term is actually correct :) I would remove them and if you don't get any wheel hop leave them off. It should help launch traction (weight transfer) slightly as well. Learn by experimentation :)

    Nos in a 10.5:1 comp. 306

For what it's worth, i'm spraying a tad over a 200 shot on a stock 302 block with only forged pistons and a 10.5:1-11:1 comp ratio. Granted, I know that it could let loose anytime and I'm probably around the limits of what the stock bottom end will take. I think that a lot of it has to do with...

    T5 rebuild question

Pics Here are the pics and the T5 manual in case somebody doesn't have it. http://www.sokodo.net/~brian/T5_rebuild So the way it was when I took it apart was: the 15 loose bearings which go into the end of the input shaft where the output shaft slides into, then that beat up spacer/sleeve...

    T5 rebuild question

Does anybody have a T5 WC apart and could take a couple pictures for me or perhaps answer a question from memory? This is my first T5 rebuild so I'm not sure about a couple items... if you pull up the T5 service manual page 3-7 the area in question is from item 66A through 69. When I took mine...
