    new toy...

That's what I thought. I know it ain't easy, and it'd be a BIG tear up. But if I'm going to all this effort anyway, I'd rather end up with something unique, and there are lots of guys with 351s in foxes. We'll see I guess.

    new toy...

If it ends up going in the 2000, it'll be carbed, and I'll basically gut the V6. It wouldn't be so bad to buy a late 80s 5.0 and try to stuff it into that and go EFI. We'll see.

    new toy...

Not sure yet. :) It'll be at least a year before I'm finished with it (money). At that point I'll decide whether to stuff it in the 6 or buy an old Fox to plug it in. Sure would be neat to fit it in the 6 though, neat sleeper!

    new toy...

Look what I just got! Rock on. I have the whole shortblock, it's all disassembled and ready to go in for machine work. I'll be keeping a mostly stock bottom end, good cam and some good heads+intake and I should pull 400hp/400lbft pretty easily.

    is this good compression

They're fine. The #6 is slightly lower than the rest, but only by about 10lbs or so. That's not at all unusual if the motor has any miles on it. You're just fine.

    Advice on 302/351 Block Selection

Okay so as a project, I've decided to build a 302 or 351. I'll be building it all myself (want the learning experience). I fully expect it to take a year or two to complete - my goal is 350hp NA (FI, no carb), and my budget is $4000 (over a couple years). So I'm going to start from step one...

Can someone with a 99^ do me a HUGE favor?

It IS giving me problems, that's why I'm asking. :) Not to be rude - but if you have a 99+, take 60 seconds and give me a hand. If you don't, stop telling what I do and don't need to know and let someone else answer my post you jackass. ;)

Can someone with a 99^ do me a HUGE favor?

Thanks - I get the underlying principle. AC off, clutch disengages, compressor off. AC on, visa versa. What I'm not sure of is exactly what/where the clutch is on the compressor assembly (ie, is it part of the pulley? or internal to the compressor package). That's why I want someone to go...

Can someone with a 99^ do me a HUGE favor?

If one of you could do this little test for me, it would be HUGELY appreciated. 1. Go pop your hood, and start the car. Make sure the AC is OFF. 2. Take a look at the AC Compressor pulley. The center of the pulley has 3 bolts in it. 3. Is the center of the pulley moving?? Yes or no...

    Holy Damn

Heh okay, I'm gonna give you that one for sure. :)

    Holy Damn

Best advice you'll get. Even to extremely experienced techs, automatic trannys can still be a HUGE mystery. They're actually one of the most complicated pieces of machinery every built, even to this day. Put er back together, fill it up, and take it to a pro.

    SHO v-6?

Would be very complicated as the SHO is a FWD car. You'd need to find some other transmission that would fit, right it up, etc. etc.. As pointed out, there's no point. The SHO motor was decent for its time, but not so much anymore. In fact MANY V6s nowadays make more power and more...

    burning parking brake cable

Wow that's a new one. Ford quality for ya!!

    sounds behind the instrument cluster

That's not pinging, that's just Ford quality for you. :) I promise you just about everyone here has a dashboard and cabin that rattles like **** pretty much 24/7. (And anyone that says 'mine doesn't rattle like that' just doesn't know what they're listening for - go sit in a Honda or Toyota or...

    What tire will fit??

255/50s would be okay on a 7.5" wide rim. Remember 255/50 can tolerate a much narrower rim than, say, 255/40.

    burning parking brake cable

Looks like she drove for a while with the parking brake on.... I saw this lady in a Chrysler minivan do that. Had been driving down the highway with her parking brake set. When she finally pulled off, there was smoke pouring out from the rear end, and it was so hot that the plastic around the...

    What tire will fit??

BTW, Performance Red is teh win. :nice:

    What tire will fit??

The stock tires are 225/55/16. The stock wheels are 7.5" wide. A 255/50/16 will have approximately the same sidewall height as stock. Won't look like a truck at all. That's a pretty odd-sized tire, though, and might 'bulge' a little on a 7.5" tire. A 40 or 45 profile tire just isn't going...

    Talking about a Sleeper!!

The Buick Regal is one of the ultimate sleepers IMO. The N/A 3.8 isn't overly spectacular, but the Regal W/ the supercharged 3800 is a pretty damn quick car, and you TOTALLY don't expect it from an old man Buick. A guy I work with has one with some mild mods (pulley for more boost, intakes, etc...

    Check engine light

Could be anything. If there wasn't any perceiveable change in the car's performance, then it's likely something non-critical like a sensor- or emissions-related issue. You'll have to get the code checked to have any real idea about what it is. Even though it's likely non-critical, you should...
