SHO v-6?

Has anyone ever thought of putting the sho motor out of a taurus into a v-6 mustang? I think the results would be very impressive but i don't think they're are mounts available for this does anyone know?

it would be waste of time. the 3.8 can be taken to far higher hp levels for far less than it would cost to do such a swap. the swap probably could be done if you used a tranny from a 4.0 2wd explorer but even then it would be a technical nightmare

mounts would be the least of the worries for such a swap

Seems kinda silly. f ou were gonna go that far, you might as well use a 300ZX engine. Or a supra engine. Putting a sideways engine N/S would be a huge pain, where'd you come up with this idea?

Would be very complicated as the SHO is a FWD car. You'd need to find some other transmission that would fit, right it up, etc. etc..

As pointed out, there's no point. The SHO motor was decent for its time, but not so much anymore. In fact MANY V6s nowadays make more power and more power-per-displacement than the SHO motor. 220hp isn't all that impressive for a 3+L motor anymore.

A split-port 3.8L would probably be just about as fast in the Mustang anyway. And with a bit of work, the 3.8L would pretty easily outperform the SHO motor anyway.

The Aerostar Bell housing matches up with out too much trouble. There are a number of RWD SHO powered cars out there.

My SHO (3.2) cranks out 520hp. How many 3.8's put out that kind of power?

Keep in mind, this is a 15 year old engine. Can't expect it to keep up forever, but it still holds its own. 73.3hp/L is still a respectable number. Nissan 3.5 VQ only puts down 81hp/L, and it is probably on of the highest specific output V6's out there right now.
