Insane 66 'vert project...a LONG history and current info

Uhhh...yeah....the springs are the ANCIENT ones that I installed in '79!!! But it would be kind of interesting to watch! The blocks and THIN u-bolts are simply to start looking at height and get wheels/axles figured out. I've already begun talking w/the Caltrac folks about both a set of...

Nice! Are you pleased w/ the gear vendors unit?

Insane 66 'vert project...a LONG history and current info

Car shows are more fun to visit than enter...I found that out a few months ago with the GTO. What a pain it was, trying to get the car spotless and deal w/ all of the scheduling stuff. Yeah, I won a big trophy. Woo woo...don't mean to offend those of you who are serious showing your cars, but...

anyone use these nice $300 racing seats in their stang?

Basically these are the same chinese made seats that have been making the rounds. I have a set I paid about $200 shipped [in gray] that I don't think I will put in the 'vert. Initially when they came in, others were very positive. And, for the price, they are pretty good. My 'vert will be...

Insane 66 'vert project...a LONG history and current info

A bit more info: if you look at the front leaf mounts, they are located on the tube that also locates the front 2 tubes for the roll bars. Then there is a 3rd piece of steel that ties the rear tube of the roll bar into that same cross member. I will post further pics of the structural...

65 to 67 shock tower swap.

If you want a WIDE engine in there, remove the shock towers and do a "mustang 2" suspension. The best setups are NOT using MII parts, but just some general geometry points. They seem to work well...as I am already committed to finding out. I wouldn't do this for a road course car [although...

Insane 66 'vert project...a LONG history and current info

This is a Rod & Custom Motorsports tubular MII-type front end. Includes coilover shocks and a front swaybar. Also has the 11" front disc brakes. Given the lack of SERIOUS pushing of the car [that is, pushing it repeatedly where the brakes can overheat] they will HOPEFULLY be enough. Nice...

Insane 66 'vert project...a LONG history and current info

INTERCOOLER: Yeah...it's too big. It's ugly. It ruins the front end view and the lines of the 'R' valence. The brake duct holes have to be filled. Tough! The straight on view: Alright...that's enough for now. For those who are...

Insane 66 'vert project...a LONG history and current info

Alright...I've mentioned this car in enough other threads, and information has been asked. Well, today I talked more with my engine builder, and I am excited. We are still many weeks from completion, and the Power Tour is coming. Oh, I'm also going to be moving my GTO over to a new Aussie...

3" exhaust pics (pre 71) anyone?

I need to figure this out as well. There is no way I want to choke down the 408 with small pipes. The problem is, the 'vert is sitting low, and has a lot of additional steel underneath to "firm" everything up. We may have to ovalize the tubing at points...

Engine swap on a 67 fastback..

I can hook you up w/ my builder...he's putting the finishing touches on my blown 408W!

    Anyone running a 351 in a 65/66?

Well, mine should be here in another week or two. Oops, it's a 408W. I've got a lot more room due to the MII front end, but I need some LARGE headers for this car, as it will have an ATI D2 Procharger for boost. My builder is recommending 1 7/8" headers...but I don't know of any. We may end...

    New dragstrip times

Nice car...too bad it didn't sell. Are the new models taking their toll on resale of these? Aw, just save up money, keep this one AND get yer classic back!

thoughts on fat man mcphereson strut suspension compared to MII?

Just saw the posts. No website...and I really haven't even organized the few pictures I have. BTW, they should be showing up if you're logged in. The MII was a decision made 2.5 yrs ago. Wanted disc brakes, R&P steering, knew there were issues with the front end. Wasn't sure what...

thoughts on fat man mcphereson strut suspension compared to MII?

Plenty of surgery has been done thus far... That is some serious rectangular steel tubing. The forward most piece has the roll bars mounted to it, and then there are a pair of forward tubes going into the convertible "underseat" panels. Also, there will be "low" door bars going...

thoughts on fat man mcphereson strut suspension compared to MII?

The chassis rigidity issue is absolutely imperative. We are adding a lot of tubing to the front of my 'vert: dash bar which will also connect through the firewall to the frame rails [coming from above...don't actually know the "official" name] and loop across the front. I'm already tied across...

    which AFR's?

Boost + blow through! That will take care of any late model Mustang unless they too are boosted. Then again, look at my sig: I LOVE boost! Even the wife's car has a turbo.

And you've driven how many GTO's? With what mods? Or should I ask how many have dusted you out on the road? "Jumping on every band wagon"??? Oh...I get it...you are the guy car & drivel was writing for when they first picked the '05 Mustang as a "10 best", then had to give the Mustang 3...

Lord help me, but I don't get all of this idiotic "brand loyalty" crap. First Mustang in the family was on my birthday in the fall of '65 when my dad took delivery on a '66. Learned to drive in that car a few years later. Bought my '66 'vert in '79. Bought a GT by ordering from the dealer in...
