03 Cobra Pumps maxing out on my 2v GT -any ideas?

I have a vortech S-trim with a 3.00" pulley and front mount intercooler. Fuel-wise, I have 42 lb injectors and an 03 Cobra dual pump. I'm making ~440 rwhp. I was making ~10-12 psi before, but now (after longtubes), boost is down to ~9 psi. Anyway, we got the car on the dyno and the A/F...

    Stock 2v shortblock, pretty impressive

You are one of the few successfully making >500 whp with a stock bottom end 99-04. I know it can be done with a good fuel supply and a good tune. Congrats. But the thing I find strange is that you have 150 passes at 470 rwhp, and only several passes in the 11's? At that power level, you...

spining the vortech faster with alum.

Although they don't "feel" as fast on the street, Vortechs run really well on the dragstrip. Who cares about how much boost at 2800 rpms? You'll be >4500 rpms throughout the 1/4 mile. I have taken on many KB cobras with my lowly 2v and an S-Trim. I lost a few, but won many more. Manuals...

    Superchargers and driving in rain

The filter shouldn't sit too low. I have mine up pretty high in the fenderwell, so it doesn't get wet. Never had a problem in the rain.

How much louder will it be with longtubes on the highway?

Yeah, its still in the shop about to get a retune because its running a little lean (A/F in the 12's). But there's a fuel pump issue that has to be resolved first.

How much louder will it be with longtubes on the highway?

Thought I'd update this post, and tell you my impressions: I went from : Stock manifolds + Bassani X-pipe to to: BBK longtubes + BBK catted X-pipe I was very surprised that I could barely tell the difference -even at WOT. Now, if I could just figure out why I lost power...

26" vs 28" ET Street Drag Tires

That's right. I switched from 3.73 + 26" to 4.10 + 28", and trap rpm was unchanged . However the 28" helped my 60' a lot. Well, it improved 60' time by about 0.1s, which is a lot to me (0.2 s faster ET).

    Lost HP/TQ with longtubes

Maybe I'll get a retune and a smaller pulley. I have a 3" Reichard ultragrip pulley with a 6-rib set-up, and it works great (no slipping). Anyone using a 2.8" ultragrip with a 6-rib set-up?

    Lost HP/TQ with longtubes

Good call. I wonder why my tuner said it was safe to run.

    Lost HP/TQ with longtubes

Here is the dyno sheet http://www.corral.net/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=28456&size=big&cat=681 I lost 20 rwhp and 20 rwtq in the mid range. To be fair and objective, the "before" dyno was actually from April 2004. I should have done a pull right before the install. However I go to...

    Lost HP/TQ with longtubes

Same shop, same dyno, same time of year. But the "before dyno" was done 2 years ago when it was dyno tuned. I know I didn't lose power in those two years, since I go to the drag strip regularly and keep careful records of my ET and MPH.

    Lost HP/TQ with longtubes

I have a 99 2v GT with a V1 S-Trim + FMIC pushing about 10-12 psi. Exhaust-wise, I had stock manifolds + bassani catted x-pipe. With this combo, my dyno numbers were 455 rwhp, 423 rwtq. So I just had BBK longtubes installed, along with a catted X-pipe. I didn't see the charts yet, but from...

Slop in steering response due to header heat

hmmm...I don't know what to think now. I cancelled the order for the cobra shaft, but know I'm here about guys with 99+ GT having the problem. The headers are jet hot sterling coated, so maybe I'll be OK.

Tubular k-member on a street car

Some do. AJE and PA Racing, for example, have spring perches as an option allowing you to use the factory A-arms.

Tubular k-member on a street car

I'm installing longtubes in a 99 2v GT, and will have the stock k-member off. I'm thinking about swapping to a tubular k. I'm particulary looking at the PA Racing K with the stock A-arms. This is a street car, so I have several concerns. Can anyone chime in and answer a few questions...

Slop in steering response due to header heat

Well, I learned that the 99's don't have ragjoints, so this is not an issue.

Slop in steering response due to header heat

I'm about to install BBK longtubes in a 99 2v GT, and I read a few posts about how the heat from the headers can soften the rubber rag joint on the steering shaft and cause free, unpredictable and sometimes dangerous play in the steering. One solution would be to get a solid steering shaft...
