    Mustang off the line number

I bet I know why its only 88. Because those reports are by body and engine code. In this case it's 42E. So 88 GT hatchbacks made that day.

    Mystery D.S.O Code (on a 66)?

24C is Mar 24 so definitely after Cincinnati DSO was changed from 31 to 27. Five other DSOs changed sometime between the begining and end of the 1966 model year... Buffalo: 12 --> 37 Louisville: 36 --> 28 Philadelphia: 23 --> 16 Pittsburgh: 14 --> 38 Washington: 26 -->17

    Mustang off the line number

A pic of the 'report', especially showing where it says "88 built", would clear up this confusion

    Mystery D.S.O Code (on a 66)?

DSOs can change, even in the middle of the model year. Marti has data from all the Ford books and archives, even mid-year changes.

    Mustang off the line number

But was it 88 total or 88 with that particular body paint color and that particular interior trim code?

    Mustang off the line number

Nobody knows that info (what order made on any particular day), not even Ford. So #87 of 88 that day is made up. I know how they make the number up and their logic is flawed. Ford didn't make cars in the order claimed on those reports, or on certificates.

    Mustang off the line number

Cars are neither produced in order by, nor do they 'come off the line' in order of, the last six of the VIN

Brass core plugs are for marine (salt water) environment. Otherwise either will do.

    Need help identifying casting numbers

Partial VIN is also stamped on the block. Where depends on which plant produced the vehicle. The VIN will tell you which vehicle it was in originally.

Rebuilding my 82 convertible fox body

1983-93 convertibles were "finished" by Cars & Concepts. Those cars were shipped from DAP to C&C with a fiberglass cap in place of a solid roof. The caps were sent back to Ford to be re-used in subsequent car shipments. Finished convertibles were shipped back to DAP for final QA and water...

    1983 Mustang GT

There were 993 GT convertibles. Not 1001. The were not eight (1001 minus 993) "sent to Canada". There were not eight "crash test vehicles".

Rebuilding my 82 convertible fox body

There were many "coach builders" that did convertible conversions on various makes and models, where the original manufacturer didn't offer a convertible. Many coach builders offered convertible conversions for 1979-1982 Capri and Mustang.

    1983 Mustang GT

Deluxe reports say "... Products 1949-..." They do not say "... Reports 1949-..." Personalized stats reports say "... Products 1950-..." They do not say "... Reports 1950-..." Marti Auto Works makes reproduction parts also. They don't just do reports.

    1983 Mustang GT

I see a hood scoop over a factory punched hole in the hood, in the pic attached. That was a GT only item in the 1983 model year. GT emblem on the dash is obviously a GT only item. Factory buck tag and possibly - depending on production date - factory door tag would have GT only codes on them if...

    1983 Mustang GT

The numbers your talking about are for convertibles only. There were less than 6400 5.0L convertibles build for the 1983 Model year. According to Marti Auto Works there were 993 GT convertibles built for the 1983 model year. Marti Auto Works does not have Ford's production data for model years...

Engine How to Determine if Factory/Dealer A/C Delete

Buck tag. If it has an "AC" code it had air conditioner from the factory. If it does not have an "AC" code then it did not have air conditioner from the factory. There is NO such thing as "factory AC delete" unless it was done by the dealer (not likely -- that's a stupid thing for a dealer to...
