Do you have Flo Fits? 2 Questions

I am considering putting a used set of Flo Fits in my 68 vert. Do they sit higher and, if so, how much? Do they adjust further back? The problem is that with the stock seats, my knees hit the steering wheel a little. If the Flo Fits sit higher, that might be a problem. Thanks.

    anybody tried powerfire distributors?

I know we are a little off topic, but we got rid of our Union (Teamsters) about two years ago. Our wages went up because the Company gave us the difference in cost that they had to pay for the Union health plan, plus a normal increase - and our new plan is better. Oh, and no more Dues!! Our...

    Building for street

I had 3.25s when I had the 4 speed - no OD in those days. It was a good compromise. Currently in the 302 for the cam, I am very happy with a conservative Crane that has .469 lift. It is matched with a 500 cfm Edel. and currently a TKO 5 speed and 3.55 rear end. Nice and torquey (is that a...

Roller Rockers: Cold is Quiet, Hot is Loud!?!

The answers are as follows: oil press is 20-25 when hot at idle. About 3,000 mi. on the top end, 15,000 mi. on the bottom end. Oil (10w-30 Redline w/ a little zinc break in fluid) changed every 1,000 mi. due to limited use. It has Rhodes V-Max lifters which are adjusted like solid lifters...

Roller Rockers: Cold is Quiet, Hot is Loud!?!

Again, can anyone think of a reason why it would be perfectly quiet when cold?

Roller Rockers: Cold is Quiet, Hot is Loud!?!

Lock nuts are tight. Oil pressure varies between 20 and 60 as measured by an external gauge, depending on temp and rpm. The sound is subjectively LIKE A NOISY SEWING MACHINE, but no clacking. I can't find any signs of rubbing or contact. In my opinion it should have the same or less noise than...

Roller Rockers: Cold is Quiet, Hot is Loud!?!

This roller rocker business is frustrating. I had Harland Sharp Roller rockers (1.6) that got noisy when the car was hot (.47 lift cam) So, I changed out the lifters and push rods (just in case) and also put on Comp Cam Magnum Roller Rockers (also 1.6). Incredibly, the same result. There is...

First Time engine build - need 331 advice

I used that Milodon pan with the specific Milodon pick up. I also have the Ron Morris 1/2" drop mounts. It works well, and is not nearly as low as my sub-frame connectors or tri-y header flanges. A good fit overall.

    Drone reduction ideas please

My 96 Cobra vert has twin Flow 40s with an h pipe. It sounds great except for 1900-2000 RPM (severe drone). I have read a few ideas to help: 1. Put Dynamat on the body above the mufflers. I'm not sure how safe this is... 2. Strap something solid and fireproof to the outside of the...

    Roller rocker alignment

The current guide plates and heads are Edelbrock. The roller rockers are Proform. The push rods are hardened and there is no wear on the rods. I suspect that the Proform rocker shafts were not drilled exactly perpendicular to the arms. Of the 16 there are about 6 that are not centered over...

    Roller rocker alignment

I'll try swapping. Also, I don't understand what locates the rocker on the stud, pointing in a specific direction. It seems like if I could turn the stud a few degrees that would solve it.

    Roller rocker alignment

I have more roller rocker noise than I'd like (even though I put in new lifters and adjusted them carefully) so I took off the valve covers and noticed that several of the Proform rocker arm roller tips are not centered over the valve stem tips. How do you move them a few degrees right or left...

Well, I understood your terminology until the word "quench". Whats that?

First Time engine build - need 331 advice

70Vert, thanks for the link. That kit looks very good. I was surprised at the 8.4:1 compression. I'm hoping for about 9.5-10 so maybe they would be willing to substitute a flat top piston.

First Time engine build - need 331 advice

I have a roller block from an Explorer. I want to build it into a low stress, torque biased 331. I have Edel 1.90/1.60 (#60229) heads on my current 302 that I want to use. Will they provide sufficient flow for a 331? What 331 kit is the best - I am not worried about price at this...

    Anyone have an obscure picture?

The TMI kit looks excellent, but I have 69 headrests that I hope to put in my 68 if I can assure myself of the correct mounting configuration within the seat.

    Anyone have an obscure picture?

I had no idea they are different. Mine are the 69 headrests that I hope to mount in my 68 seats.

Shoguun, if the headrest is still attached I would appreciate it very much! Thanks. Tom

    Anyone have an obscure picture?

This is obscure question, but does anyone have a picture of the inside of the seat on a 68 or 69 where the headrest bracket attaches? I am adding stockers to my 68 low backs. Thanks.

Should I retorque the heads now?

Since I don't know what brand of headgasket was used, I am planning to retorque to 75 ft/lbs. Sound reasonable?
