performance down sides to rear sway bar?

i was wondering if there are any types of driving where no rear sway bar is better? i have also been hearing from lots of people that a rear sway bar would cause too much stiffness in my 66 fastback. btw, i already upgraded the front to 1" with mydolene bushings and WOW what a difference

problems with valvetrain, do i have to pull the head?

sorry, heres the link for the picture http://community.webshots.com/photo/153392014/153392562izndQp im leaning to pulling the heads and installing screw in studs. the heads have been heavily ported and it appears that my 2bbl .030 (9.3:1 estimated) pistons will not accept 1.90s or maybe...

problems with valvetrain, do i have to pull the head?

ive had a tick come from the engine for quite some time, i thought it was rocker arm adjustment (too much play), so i adjusted the valves, but couldnt rid the noise. then i tried replacing a push rod which looked bent. later, i noticed that one rocker arm was sliding around on the valve and...

    Car audio- NOT CUSTOM AUTOSOUND

i have the 6.5" kickpanels and like the looks of em, but i recommend a 5.25" speaker. the problem is thta speakers like enclosures behind them and its hard for a 6.5 to sound any good in the kickpanel of a mustang. there is not much air volume behind the speaker. get some good crisp 5.25...

will this rear end work on my 66 coupe?

that looks like just the axels, not rear end hosing also looks like something that was bought from randy's ring and pinion up in washington if you want a housing that you can narrow, then i have one for sale, but if you want a direct bolt-in, then i cant help good luck

I'm looking into upgrading my rocker arms to the Crane Energizer 1.6 full-rollers and was wondering if i will clear my valve covers. Does anyong have this combo? I dont want to buy new valve covers, and really dont want to add spacers. will i still be safe with my press-in studs? also...

Tuning engine, what to do/how to know when you're done?

no, i meant units of measurement for the same guage, mine shows psi on the boost side (above 0) and inches of mercury on the vaccum side (below 0). its just the standard i guess

Tuning engine, what to do/how to know when you're done?

yeah, a vacuum guage is a good investment plus, when youre done tuning it, you cant put in in your dash and watch the negative boost go wild and why cant they use the same units for boost AND vacuum? inches of mercury and then psi??????

    I'm getting some free turbos...

well a turbo is laod dependant whereas the s/c is rpm dependant. running down the freeway without overdrive will be torture with a s/c, but a turbo wont be making much boost since hwy driving is a light load. turbos increase exponentially as the engine revs up, but the s/c has a constant...

Tuning engine, what to do/how to know when you're done?

lots of people agree with my setup, so hopefully it will work for you: msd 6a, autolite plugs --> .045 gap 15* initial timing 38* total timing dont forget to plug the hose that goes to the distributor run around town and get it warm before adjusting mixture, turn them individually till the...

    I'm getting some free turbos...

first of all, the idea of using 8 turbos for each cylinder is completely inefficient. there would be too much loss in heat due to the fact that there is so much gap between exhaust pulses. if you do run turbos on the 289, run two. one is not very efficient for a v8, since there are two...

    blew my 8" rear!

wheres Spring Valley? mapquest shows one near SD and one near Placerville. I have a 9" out of a 69 galaxy thats ready to be narrowed if you want to tub the stang. its 31 spline with open 2.73, but i have a friend in placerville with a 4.11 posi. ill take $100 for the rear end, which has...

How to get my 289 into the 13s

I know guys with 289s that run 12s without NOS. One coupe that ran 12.8s had 3000stall, 4.11 gears, Alum. heads with 2.02 intakes, and a .500" cam. 3000 stall is a huge help to a reving engine, especially when the bottom end lacks torque. Even a 2200 stall would help a lot. Getting the right...

im going to be running my 66 fastback at the 1/4 mile track and should be running high 14s. I would like to know who has experience both with a hood on and without a hood, and how much a difference it should make on my 289. i got .1 to .2 better just by removing my air cleaner. i cant imagine...
