    390 build-up ?'s

I just dropped my newly rebuilt 390 in the 69 Mach 1. All the advise above is good stuff. Also, as mentioned above, www.fordfe.com is a VERY good source of information. You can also try www.clubcobra.com You would be surprised how may of those guys are running 390. I’m running a milder...

    1969 MACH INTERIOR PANELS??

Are you talking about the Q pannel trim panels that hold the Q panel light? If so, yes they are available through NPD. I got a set last winter and was not too thrilled with them. The panels were paper board and didn’t fit my car too well. I have to enlarge the hole for the Q panel light...

What tool to cut out floor pans?

I used a plasma cutter on mine and WOW was it easy and quick. Like so may have already said, the price is a major issue. You can rent them. I got lucky. My neighbor had one and let me use it.

    Mig welder questions

Gas shielded is the way to go. It’s easier to get up and welding on thin stuff and it’s a much “cleaner” weld. Flux-core has lots of splatter. Both will get the job done but I still have a hard time welding thin sheet metal with my Lincoln flux-core welder. The difference in the two is...

    auburn, powertrax, or other?

So the Powertrax is loud? I have a locker now and it drives me crazy with how loud it is. I was thinking of changing to a Powertrax unit cause it is marketed as quiet. From their web site: "A precise synchronization mechanism eliminates the ratcheting sounds typical of other locking...

    New paint....man....I dont like it....

I feel your pain. I had some small paint work done on my 69 and well, I guess GSA is bad about fading out cause the paint shop could not match it. The new paint was darker. Fortunately, the area I wanted painted was not going to be seen so I had it done anyway.

Well the insurance verdict came in today....

Fist, let me say how sorry I am and I still haven’t taken my 69 out of the garage since your ordeal stated. IMO, You had your baby insured with Hagerty for $15k agreed value. His insurance company offered $15,385. There is nothing your company can or will do at this point. Heck, the other...

Well, it's pretty much official now......

Pak, I found this about buy back. http://moneycentral.msn.com/content/Insurance/knowyourrights/P35062.asp If your car is a total loss but you want to have it repaired anyway, you should be able to retain it. Your insurer still has to pay you the car's actual cash value, minus the...

    Should I buy this 67 S-code fastback

If it’s been stored for 10 years, you may find issues when you start driving it. That rear main seal will more than likely start leaking if it’s not already. My 69 was stored for a few years before I bought it and I have had to replace almost every seal and gasket that I can get to without...

Advice please from those who have had insurance claims.

It’s all about establishing the value of you car. If they use NADA, I think you will be ok. Once they play their hand, you will know how to play yours. It should not matter to the other company what YOU have it insured for. You could have liability only (not a smart thing to do) but that why...

Advice please from those who have had insurance claims.

Insurance companies do what they want. They have the time, money and the lawyers on staff to screw the little guy and they do on a daily basis. Plus, you would not believe the laws they have on their side until you have a claim. If his company deems it totaled, yea, you almost have to...

Advice please from those who have had insurance claims.

I think you’re screwed because the other guys insurance is not going to recognize the “classic” value of your car, they will total it and offer you some insultingly low amount for it. Insurance companies call it good business, I call it BS. I hope I’m wrong but be prepared to be insulted...

    Boyd's show

Pimp my ride takes WAY too many shortcuts. The Mustang they did really pissed me off. They didn’t fix the floor, they just bolted in new metal over the old rusted out floor. That’s no way to fix the problem. Plus, they didn’t fix the cowl that was leaking which caused the floors to rust out...

    Ignition upgrade suggestions

So now that I’ve decided on how I’m rebuilding my 390FE, I can’t justify stabbing it with the stock points distributor. What ignition system would you suggest for the following. Stock bottom end with Forged SpeedPro 9.5:1 pistons Comp 280H cam Edelbrock RPM heads Edelbrock RPM intake...

    Rebuilt 390, Need your help/opinions please……

Are the springs on the Edelbrock heads any good? At what lift do I need to change them out. I see where almost all the cam companies say to run their springs with their cam. I'm told the valve guides are crap. Any truth to that?

    Rebuilt 390, Need your help/opinions please……

I was looking at the Federal Mogul web site and noticed the SpeedPro Forged pistons are 9.91:1 compression so the 280H might be right. I need to call Comp again and talk to them about the statement on the 280H “Works best in street machines with aftermarket stall”. They list a stall speed on...

PI, what's the full part number on the Crane cam? I could not find it on the web site. D. Hearne, Thanks for the offer. I don't know how I missed your post about having the short block. I'll keep that in mind. I still need to talk to my guy here and see what he can do. If I can't get...
