    Make that a "2007 Cobra"

Darn typos. That should have been "debut sometime Jan-April 2006, and dealer floors September 2006.

    06 Cobra vs 06 Saleen

During the Saleen party at the Mustang 40th in Nashville last week he indicated that there would be something out in the September-October time frame.

    Make that a "2007 Cobra"

The power lease on the 2004 Cobra is a 30 month term, timed to end at the planned introduction of the next gen. Look for it to debut sometime Jan-April '07, and hit dealer floors Sept '07. I hope. Don't want it to go longer than that.

    Muffler v. catback

Part of the gain from most catbacks is that the pipes are not only larger, but are mandrel bent so you don't get any crimping and loss of cross section at the bends. I've got the Magnaflow catback on mine (and love it). It's 2.5 inches, vs 2.25 for the stock catback. In addition, when...

    DIABLO SPORT TUNER

OK, so just what is a "magical velocity doughnut"? <g> I've also got the K&N FIPK. Are you talking about the adapter ring?

    Teased my ford dealer today...

I bought my '04 the last week of March and paid invoice. My initial contact was with their internet guy over the phone after I had sent emails to several local area dealers. Initially he said sticker only. After I chuckled a bit I asked him to get with his sales manager and get back to...

    03 Snake or Saleen SC?

Well, let's see: 03 Cobra: More horsepower stock, much more potential for increases than the already blown Saleen, DOHC 4V, cast iron block, forged crank, rods and pistons, 6 speed tranny, not as flashy, several thousand less than the Saleen. Saleen: Less horsepower, less potential for...

    simple SVT engine question

Yep, that's right. There are several subassemblies that come to them already done, though. The heads, for instance, are fully assembled and the engine guys mount 'em and torque 'em down.

    '03-'04 Cobra Comparison

You're right about the Gas Guzzler tax. Don't have enough miles on it yet for a realistic MPG check. The best I did with the '03 was 20.5 over two full tanks, and that was all interstate. Around town it had to be 15 or so. I don't pay any attention to the shift light. :D

    Tires for 03 Cobra

I put the Goodyear Eagle GSD3's on my '03 back in December and loved 'em. They seemed quiter than the stock, and didn't seem to spin quite as easily. The tread patter is a showstopper, as well.

    '03-'04 Cobra Comparison

I'm not sure if anyone else has owned both an '03 and an '04 and thought you might be interested in a comparison. I got my '03 DSG coupe in September 2002. Sold it late last month with ~35K miles on it, and got the '04 Redfire. '03 had the tick. '04 OK  Clutch takes less force...

Fire Extinguisher Mount for '04 Cobra Coupe

The literature they have sent out doesn't specify where it has to be, or if it has to be in reach. Someone elsewhere suggested that I lay down one of the back seats, and use a nylon hold down strap around the seatback to hold it. Not in reach, though. Cupholder? It would have to be pretty...

Fire Extinguisher Mount for '04 Cobra Coupe

Gotta have a fire extinguisher on board while on track during the Mustang 40th in Nashville in a couple of weeks. Any suggestions for where/how to mount? I'd prefer the trunk so I don't have to drill holes through any interior pieces. Thanks,

    New Cobra in the Garage

Saturday afternoon I traded in my '03 Shadow Gray coupe for a 2004 Redfire coupe. Yeah......I'm nuts. I've put 35K on the '03 in the 18 months between Sept 03 and now, and my wife and I had been kicking around the idea for a couple of weeks about getting a new one, and she...

    LOST MY KEY...HELP

Programming a new key is simple IF and only if you already have a key that will start the car. The procedure in the owners manual is fairly trivial, but if you don't have a working key, the dealer has to do it. The steps in the manual allow an owner to program a second or third key as needed.

    Problem with new mustang

I don't have to do research to know what things cost 25-30 years ago, Ron. I'm 53 years old, and I know.....probably better than do you. Sure, the cost of living has exceeded the increase in average wages.....that's fairly obvious. But NOT by a 2:1 margin as has been suggested.....not...

    Problem with new mustang

Well, first of all a brand new base mustang is not 24K. You can get a well equipped GT for that price. In 1972 I was making $11k a year. Now I'm making $110K. People who are working unskilled minimum wage jobs are always going to be making minimum wage unless they educate themselves and...

    Problem with new mustang

And what did a gallon of milk sell for in 1972 vs now? Or a loaf of bread? Everything is more expensive now, not just cars. A 2003 base level V6 Mustang is about the same price as a comparably equipped Mustang in 1972 in constant dollars. IOW although the price has increased, it hasn't...

    Problem with new mustang

Right on the money. The story about the Alpo is priceless! I met Colleti and spoke with him for about 15-20 minutes in the SVT parking area during the Ford Centennial back in June. He's a boomer just like me who grew up in the muscle car era, and he's producing this era's...

Dropping "Cobra" could be a good thing

I don't either. Like I said.....A GT350 at about the same price as the current Cobra, with power bumped to run with a standard C6. A GT500, upscale, with significantly more power, to run with the new Z06. You put a tweaked 03/04 Cobra engine in the 350, and the 5.4 liter out of the Ford...
