Starting Car for First Time in 2 Years

I agree. In addition, if it were myself doing it... I'd disconnect the fuel injectors and coils and turn the engine over a few times before actually starting it. That way, the oil can get on the cylinder walls and pre-lube things before the engine is actually fired.

    brake pad question

I believe the pads with the post go on the inner side of the brake caliper. Obviously, not contacting the rotor, but on the "passenger side" of the caliper, for reference.

2000 GT engine died, need new one. Any suggestions?

Is there anywhere else you can get a different quote from? Both of those are high. Labor isn't too out of line (it could be less), but $1,100 for a used engine with 155k is a joke and a half for an engine that's a dime a dozen. What did he diagnose as far as the engine failure? What were the...

Larger Throttle Body & Plenum - JLT CAI

x2 on FRPP. Only other gear I'd go for is Motive, and that'd be for 3.90's only. I COMPLETELY regret not having FRPP gears in my car. Also, make sure you get a full bearing kit... it'll include the axle bearings and seals. Good idea to do those at the same time.

    Replace? Upgrade? To What?

I wouldn't touch the valve cover gaskets until they actaully start to leak (if they do). What I would do is replace your PCV valve. Could be bad and causing extra crankcase pressure, thus deteriorating your seals a little prematurely.

just lowered the car and not happy with the height

Everyone's just messing with ya man, don't take it personally. As stated, they'll settle a little. If you're not happy with them at that point, pull the iso's. It's easy and if you wrap the coils where they sit on their perches with electrical tape, they won't make noise. Wrapping it 3-4...

Got my FF on3performance turbo kit!

:leghump:! That's bad ass man. I read you were thinking about going turbo, but I didn't know this soon. I'm really impressed with the new FF kit... was doing a lot of reading on it, and it's going to be bad ass. Nice step up over the original.

    4.10 gears installed... No traction?

What are your goals with the car? 4.10's are the general consensus as to what any bolt on, 5 speed 2v car should be running. That is, unless you do all interstate driving, or never hit the track, etc. I'd stick with the 4.10's. 3.73's may show a SLIGHT increase in traction, but really...

What's the name of your car?

I don't call my cars a name when I'm referencing them, but I guess what's been adopted over the years is "piece of :poo:". My Cherokee is the Battle Wagon, Mustang is 'Stang or GT usually. If I'm feeling brazen, I'll call it the beast or LS1 eatah.

    4.10 gears installed... No traction?

Welcome to owning a geared 2v. 1st and 2nd are useless for me. It can be fun until I'm actaully trying to race on street tires.

    05-09 Track Times

Strongly considering parting with my 2v car for a newer, more refined, low mile, less hassle, better shape, cleaner, decent paint, leather interior, Shaker sound system GT... I know 3v cars respond better than 2v cars with basic mods, but what 1/4 times are to be expected with a good...

Larger Throttle Body & Plenum - JLT CAI

Keep your BBK intake, spend the $300 on a mid pipe (offroad if you can) and put the rest towards gears or buying longtubes and a matching mid pipe. The only mods worth doing an expecting a return are exhaust, gears and tune without getting into the bigger stuff. Cold air intake is fine, as it...

Curious, has your car ever done something...

I've done several movie-perfect smoke rolling 2nd gear u-turns that left me saying "that... was.... AWESOME". Beat my best friends heads/cam/stall/geared/exhaust/tuned... etc. Z/28 a few times, as well as running within 1/10th to 1/100th with a nearly identical (plus intake and a 6 speed car)...

    Almost had a bad day...

Yea, after inspecting the other connections that seems to be what's going on. It has softened the Teflon and basically erodes at it until the gas can leak. Which means, I have two other spots that need to be fixed before long. I checked both today and they seem fine for now. Leak is fixed, but...

    I need your help Stangnet

Honestly man, I wouldn't jump on either. Both sound like they have their share of issues and neither price seems low enough to offset that. Is this something you're dead set on, or have you thought about waiting for something else to come along?

    Almost had a bad day...

I took the 'Stang out the other day while I was doing some Christmas shopping. Kept smelling like the car was running progressively rich, until the point where it smelled like straight fuel. Thought maybe a plug or plugs were fouled and it was running rich until I stopped and smelled fuel...

2000 Mustang GT Predator Tuner question please help!

Your engine won't care about as much as you won't care that I'm drinking an iced coffee right now. As long as it's on the 87 tune, 87 octane is just fine.
