Is switching from 5 /14's to 6X8's easy?

I can make a mounting plate in 20 minutes...that's what I had to do for my 5 1/4" speakers. I just want to make sure that these Dayton drivers (which are 4 ohm speakers; compared to the 2 ohm Infinity's I currently have) work with my current sound system setup. I dont want to have to re-wire...

Is switching from 5 /14's to 6X8's easy?

And another thing....if I order these speakers you guys are 100% positive they'll work in my current system? I just don't want to order them to find out I can't run them. I want these to essentially be a plug-n-play deal

Is switching from 5 /14's to 6X8's easy?

If Dayton drivers are so good (and only priced less than $30 each), why aren't they nearly as popular as $150 6X8" coax and midrange speakers, such as the Infinity's I bought? Just wondering.

    Complete Speaker Replacement

I've replaced all of my factory equipment w/ Infinity Kappa component speakers. However, I'll be getting new mid-range speakers for up front (see thread about it). I don't know of kits available where every mid-range speaker, tweeters, crossovers, and wiring is included in one kit. You usually...

Is switching from 5 /14's to 6X8's easy?

i don't think I'll get the Infinity's because I just searched and found people saying the same thing you've said...so there's no need to ask over there for now. I had a question though, will the 6" Dayton fit in the factory speaker location with enough room, because you said the 6.5"...

Is switching from 5 /14's to 6X8's easy?

Here is the only other 6" driver from PartsExpress, it's 4 ohms. Is this the one your're talking about http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Partnumber=295-372 I'll make an account on that audio forum. I just spent some time searching for my mid-bass questions with no luck...

Is switching from 5 /14's to 6X8's easy?

Is this the 6" version you are talking about? http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Partnumber=295-362 I'm also not understanding the difference between drivers, woofers, and mid-range speakers. I never knew there was a difference but there appears to be one.

Is switching from 5 /14's to 6X8's easy?

Also, with those speakers, will making a base plate out of 1/2-3/4" MDF effect the door panel at all? That speaker obviously has a bigger diameter than factory speakers, plus I'd have to mount it with the MDF. Are you it won't get in the way of the door panel?

Is switching from 5 /14's to 6X8's easy?

When you say "...wire around the crossovers so they are not in the circuit," do you mean wire around the current crossover (the one for the 5 1/4" component set) or the crossover that comes with the Infinity 6X8" speaker? The highs in my car sound fine to me. The Infinity tweeters work...

Is switching from 5 /14's to 6X8's easy?

I currently have Infinity Kappa 5 1/4" component speakers in my car, but they don't produce the sound I'm looking for because they're so small. I would like to replace the two door speakers with Infinity Kappa 6X8's, but am I going to run into a problem with the tweeters and crossovers already...

Question about position of sub when mounted to box.

It's a Rockford Fosgate 12" HE2 Punch sub in a sealed box that I built. I just wired my sub yesterday and put it in the box for good. The terminal on the sub is about a centimeter off the bottom of the box when mounted, but there appears to be ample room for just about every other part of the...

    Are speaker baffles worth it?

Are sound baffles good for speakers and sound quality, or are they a waste of money? http://www.crutchfield.com/S-Eu1O7zsD5LE/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=52200&id=other_items&i=1086827CF#Tab

Question about position of sub when mounted to box.

Does it matter if I mount a subwoofer considerably lower than where dead center would be. It's a wedge-shaped box if that matters (sort of like what you would put behind a truck seat, just much bigger). Does it effect the way bass is projected or sound quality? Thanks

    Window Sticker?

email [email protected]. He works for Ford and can get new stickers for us. However, he told me my car was too old for him to get a new sticker. You could give it a shot though since you have a 98.

Do Underdrive pulleys make a difference?

The install is pretty easy if you know basic car mechanics. I had trouble getting the crank pulley off b/c it was on there for (at the time) 8 years and needed to be worked. I also had my radiator out when I did them, which helped alot. Not hard to do though.

Need advice on rear window vinyl

I agree with you in the sense that I should go back to the tinter, especially since there is a lifetime warranty on the tint. However, he is located near NYC and I don't feel like driving out there. Plus, last time my car sat overnight up that way over $3,000 worth of aftermarket audio aquipment...

Need advice on rear window vinyl

When I saw it on the Grand Am it actually was hardly noticeable. A $15 piece of vinyl is better than nothing I guess. I can always rip it off if it does look too tacky.

Need advice on rear window vinyl

I had my Cobra's windows tinted and the tinter didn't properly do my back window. Where the defroster material is toward the roofline, the tint didn't stick properly and now it looks like there is Elmer's glue in-between the glass and the tint. I've seen a Grand Am that had the same problem and...

    Which gears?

Most everyone is going to tell you go with 4:10's for a 4V motor. I am one of them. If you don't ever planning on super/turbocharging, you may want to consider 4:30's. However, 4:10's really are the best choice.
