    tranny replace or fix?

    replacing the exterior seals isn't brain surgery, do you have any tools? Are you a DIY type-o-guy? If yes, drop the tranny and replace the seals. Do not overfill the tranny, check the level with the engine running.

    torque boxes look rusty, but thats the worst thing I see, kinda hard to tell from pictures. I'd go look at it if I was in the market.

    Update on accident (pics) and help with body shop dealings

    since you seem like a DIY type of guy (what with the truck & towstrap), I just have to suggest; try a tree and a come-along (hand winch type-o-thingy) Did it to a friends car once and it came out pretty well. (we were poor high school kids)

    Thanks Guys, it seemed they were a little too stubborn. Now they're sending me thank you notes for driving their car. I think they're harder up than they want to admit, I think I'll bide my time..........(the old cobra still runs just fine, no supercharger, but still just fine) :)

    yes, think about it, when you step on the clutch, you disengage the engine from the driveshaft. There is no clutch on the differential, just the u-joints, it has to spin if the car is moving. just reach under there and try and move the shaft, twist and shake it, if the u-joints are bad, you'll...

    sounds like u-joints to me too, the driveshaft can "telegraph" and amplify the sound of the u-joints. Grab the driveshaft and try and shake it, if the u-joints are bad, you'll know it.
