dumb question but where do I place a floor jack

The original jack was to be placed in the small notch in the seam between the floor and the rocker panel, just behind the front wheel. This is the only place the factory said you could jack that would not cause damage to the car. You see tons of cars with dented frame rails because the rail is...

Fork on the road (manual or power)??

You will never be happy with manual if you have big sticky tires on the car and I bet with 700hp you do. Manual is fine for stock set ups but falls way short with a high peformance set up. I tried it both ways and now have power R&P on both my cars. The steering column I used is a flaming...

    9" Rear Assembly - '66FB

You could see if you can find a57-59 ford 9" at a junk yard. They are a bolt in. They are mainly small bearing housings and that will allow you to use your stock axles and brakes. All to need to do is get some new spring plates or re-drill the ones you have because the 9" has a 3" axle tubes...

    289 distributor timing HELP!

I'm going to try moving the plug wires on the cap and see what that does. I don't want to fix it this way because then the wires are not in the factory location. I'll let you know what happens. By the way 2+2GT, That is a very clean, nicely done engine bay!

    289 distributor timing HELP!

The balancer is new and was verified when I installed it. What confuses me is that it starts and runs and times correctly with the dist in its current location, In my mind it should not make any differents if I move the dist one tooth on the cam except to move the dist housing counter...

    289 distributor timing HELP!

I recently rebuilt a 289 to concours level except I added a petronix modual to the distributor. Its in a 65 GT Mustang. My problem is that when I put the distributor in the block and I get it timed correctly, the vacume advance is to far to the left and hits the upper radiator hose. I removed...

    HiPo 289 Hot start problem

It sounds to me to be a weak coil. They act just like that. Start fine when cold, but very hard starting when hot. Another simtum of a weak coil would be high speed miss when under load. Does the car miss when it gets around 5000 rpm while in second or third gear?

Debating on leaf spring vs. 4-link

What about the RRS 3-link? I have there stuff up front on two cars and believe it to be the best quick adjustable front suspension money can buy. Most of all I liked the ability to go back to stock at any time. I was about to get the 3-link for one of the cars but this bad economy is killing...

T5 swap Got a few Questions.

Anything over 300hp and if you drive it hard you should get a T5z with the 2.95 first. If all you are going to do is street drive it and not "Drop the Hammer"at 4,000+ from a dead stop, then any world class T5 85-93 should work. One thing I would replace on any T5 is the weak front bearing...

    Aluminum rad question

Keep two things in mind, The rad only works if you get pleanty of air though it. I have the Northern and it works great on my 347 but you need a good fan. A flex fan will seldom get enough air moving. I have a 12" pusher with a very agressive fan and have no problems. If I would put a...

    Ford toploader

Matching number concours people will spend what it takes. It's hard to find toploaders that came from the factory in the mustangs. Most were 3 speeds. Most 4 speed Mustangs were done in someones garage

    Ford toploader

I just sold one that was from a 289 full size. I swaped the main shaft and tail housing to make a "short Mustang" tranny out of it. I had a new Hurst comp-plus on it. I sold it on Craigs list locally for $600 and the people almost ran over each other to get it. I saw my old tranny on ebay a...

    Holley Mods

Quick little trick I did after mill the horn and blending with a die grinder was to treat the exposed alum with gun blue. It stained the metal close to the original anodized finish and looked very professional

    GT40 Heads

Actual Iron heads will make more power if everything remains the same. They hold more heat in the cylinder, heat is power! The only reason alum heads make more power on the street is due to the before mentioned added timing and slightly more compression tallorant with pump gas. On race gas...

    65 GT Fog light ?

I have a 65 GT that at some time in the past had front end damage. Who ever replaced the radiator support did not route the wires for the fog lights properly as there were no holes. My question is, what is the proper location for these holes and what size should they be? What type of grommet...
